I was looking for this combo to do some flooring myself, and found this one, I don't have Ryobi, but I figure someone may like it.

There is a brushless jigsaw on sale too. For this miter saw, it is not too useful for flooring with 7.25 inch blade and non sliding.

It has a 4-1/4" cutting capacity, which could handle any flooring smaller than that or, if it's something like laminate that has the cut ends covered by trim, the piece could be flipped to finish the cut since the cut quality doesn't really matter.

This size saw is also ideal for door casings, regular sized baseboard, quarter round/shoe mold, etc. which could be really handy for a flooring install.

While small saws like this are more limited in their max cutting capacity, they have many advantages over their bigger, more complicated counterparts, including lower price, cheaper blades, smaller footprint, lighter weight, and better accuracy.

Most glove and tongue planks are wider than 4.5". If you only need straight cut, you can use a circular saw. I had a non-sliding 10" miter and cannot even cut plank at 45 degree in single cut. If you need to flip each plank for a cut even for straight cut, you better spend a little more and get a larger miter saw. When I did my first flooring project, I use a 10" miter that works fine for straight cut for that. I had to borrow a sliding miter from a friend when I did the second flooring project with 45 degree cut. So I bought a sliding 10" miter after that. For miter saw, portability is less an issue and I would suggest to get a corded but larger miter saw which is not that expensive.

Obviously, if they need to make larger cuts than are possible with this saw, then they should get a larger saw. But you don't know what kind of flooring they are installing and there's lots that a small little portable battery saw like this can handle.

I recommend that people get the smallest and least complicated miter saw available that has the features and cut capacity they need for the things that they are going to cut.

Niche miter saw. A lot of "what ifs" to make that size work. I should know, I have a small miter saw but ended up buying a larger one not long after I realized its limitations.

Just skip this one and buy a 10" slider or larger corded miter saw that will work on most projects now and in the future. Or go cordless if you prefer and have deep pockets. But in reality, I actually prefer a corded miter saw.

I really like this saw. Of course it has some significant limitations, but it is perfect for some projects. I bought one a few years ago and used it for a flooring project. I loved the fact that I could just drag it alongside myself at floor level unlike a larger 10" corded model.
More recently I used one for a framing project, and I found it was pretty handy for cutting multiple cripple studs and widow headers, etc. to length. It really streamlined the process being able to carry the tool to the workpieces rather than vice versa. Of course it is not very powerful, but for certain applications it can be much quicker, more accurate, and safer than a circular saw.

Both times, after finishing the projects, I sold the saws on Facebook Marketplace at a modest profit.

I agree. I got a 10" miter saw 19 years ago and regret after the first flooring project. Finally I got a Metabo sliding dual bevel 10" miter 3 years ago at clearance for $150. I would suggest to trade the portability with a corded larger miter, although I had planned to get the dual battery Ryobi sliding miter saw which is no longer available. Now I am still stuck with the old 10" miter saw and a 10" sliding miter.

Looks like a great deal, thanks for posting. I'm on the fence between this and the miter with the two 4aH batteries and charger for $199.

Sure the 7" blade is a different animal from a 10", but for what it does, it does it well. There's also the 7" slider as well, if you need the extra capability. (Though no deals on the slider right now.)

I agree that this small, highly limited miter saw has a price appeal to newbies.... that will have to search for a project to use while having a cord outlet 10' away. Personally, I would spend the money on a decent and far more versatile corded or battery 7-1/4" circular saw, or towards a 10" sliding miter saw, table saw, radial arm saw, etc. We have two of the original 9" Rockwell miter boxes that have not been used in well over 20 years because of the size that continues to get more obsolete... let alone a 7 1/4" version that is like going backwards.
