I purchased from the last deal. I must mention there are some issues: 1. Online review states the whole machine is made from Alu but the bottom panel has a plastic feeling and knocking sound. 2. 4k60Hz screen would only do 60hz PWM, which is pretty noticeable by my naked eyes under 40% brightness. 3. The 3070ti is actually the bottom tier 105W max, Timespy only has 9750, and performs as badly as a regular 3060ti laptop or my 2080 laptop. 4. The max fan mode or the ai boost mode is pretty loud and high pitch. They are around 20%-30% louder than my HP omen 17 under load. 5. No USBA ports. 6. Main cooling outlet directly blows to the bottom of the screen. I suspect that would accelerate the OLED aging. Otherwise, the CPU is fast, and the SSD GIGA top-of-the-line PCIEGen4 has 7000/5500 mb/s RW.

So did you end up keeping it even with all those negatives?

Good info here - thanks! In this case, I think the Legion 5i Pro with 12700H + 3070Ti for $1599 is still the overall better machine. It's not 4K, but it does 165hz and the display sharpness and colors are top notch for 100% rgb (even if not 100% dci-p3 or adobe rgb). Plus, in practical terms, 4K would be more taxing and you'll likely end up zooming a lot of things like your web browser text. The 3070ti on the Legion is 140-150w max. Thermals is pretty good, as Lenovo did a good job with the cooling implementation on this one.

Legion 5i Pro is a well-known capable machine. 150W 3070Ti with MUX switch would give you a 13500 Timespy scroll, which has a nearly 40% performance bump than this laptop on the perfect setting. In gaming, it got at least a 25% advantage. Although I dislike the appearance of all Legion series, it's personal taste. For most people that would be a better choice.

I second what AdamPendragon said except the bottom cover is aluminum.

This laptop have a beautiful screen and that's about it. The design is by someone unexperienced and the overall quality is clearly a notch or two below Legion 5 Pro and Legion 7. I have last year's Legion 5 Pro and Legion 7 both with 3070 and both scored higher on 3DMark. The Legions also keep the palmrest cool(er) while Aero's palmrest actually gets warm. I think that's due to 2 heatpipes go south towards the battery/palmrest area instead of all going north like most laptop design

Two things: Is there any way to get either the 3070ti or 3080ti versions run at higher TDP, 2. Any decent deals on 4k i9 variant laptops? Is this laptop essentially only good for the 17.3" display specs?

I picked up this laptop open box for $1357, and I *really* want to love it. The screen is glorious, but its 60Hz pwm literally gives me a migraine. Also, even at minimum brightness, it is too bright for use in a very dark room. With a heavy heart, I am taking it back today.

Note, the spacebar on mine had a very loud squeaking that I was able to fix by spraying teflon under it.
