How are these compared to Wyze? My Nest cams are at least 5 years old.
I never touched Nest cams, but I've been using Wyze cams since 2019 and they still work great. I have heard bad things about Arlo, like how bringing them back inside to charge is a hassle.

Yeah, if you recall Wyze is also the biggest privacy nightmare next to Ring.
I was reading about Google revamping the experience, not sure if it's happened yet though.
Not yet. They just did some Google home update for iot devices like fans and vacuums or whatever, but no progress made on nest app parity. I'm still happy on the nest app with my legacy nest cams, but won't buy any new gen until it's all ubiquitous.
Do not buy these to add to an existing Nest setup! The Google Nest branded camera's do not work on the old Nest system. Google is pushing everyone to their trashy Google Home app. This means you CAN'T view these cameras on a Windows device. I will never buy a Google device again after this absurd move by them.
The nest app is great for older cams and you can view the feeds on a desktop. These newer cams use the Home app and it's not a great experience
second this.
the newer cams have IQ recording and i absolutely hate it. I recently returned my IQ cams and bought wired ones. The work with the nest app and offer unfettered 24/7 recording

I think you have to be subscribed to Nest Aware to get 24/7 recording. Otherwise you only can review detection events within the last 3 hrs.
