errr, these can be so-so, maybe last a year, but when it comes to patio lights and you want them to last, you want electric led. also, keep in mind that there are 1 and 2 watt led lights.

Do these have replaceable rechargeable batteries?

Generally, they all use 18650 cells and can be replaced.

These can start to leak within a year but it's hit or miss. My expensive one leaked after about 1.5 years while my cheaper one still has not leaked after 2 years.

Each bulb is about as bright as a night light; each is dim but together, they're enough to light up an area.

$20 is decent, especially if you want to try it out. I dont own this specific set but i have many similar; I've used these types of lights primarily to light up walk ways and they work very well. I've hung them under the roof's overhang, along brick, wood, and chain link fences.

I'm in market for some backyard lights. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for something that will last. Do you have a specific alternate recommendation?

just watch for the 48-50' 15 led (led every 3') deals on here that pop up once in a while. i have various ones where the led socket hangs down from the T, not where the led socket is the T.
