Do yourself a favor price match this to bestbuy, i stopped buying memory cards on amazon, regardless of who the seller is, due to numerous issues of fake cards
Samsung EVO Seclect is an Amazon-exclusive brand (well, you can buy it direct from Samsung too, but Amazon is the only retailer which sells it). It's equivalent to the EVO Plus elsewhere.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS9...e_samsung/

I've stopped buying flash memory cards from Amazon due to all the counterfeits. It was ridiculous because EVO Select is an Amazon-exclusive brand, yet Amazon has listings from third party sellers offering it. Long ago I did get what seemed to be a fake EVO Select card - wouldn't hit the minimum speeds the card was rated for (its actual speed was supposed to be much higher)

But it shouldn't be an issue with Samsung memory cards anymore. They now put out a tool which can verify if a card or flash drive is authentic. Scroll down to the bottom to "Samsung Memory Card & UFD Authentication Utility". Download it, pop the card in, and run it. It'll tell you if it's genuine.

Safe for use on a camera? Panasonic GH5, would primarily be a backup
Yes, I use in my Sony A7iii camera without issue. I would only recommend the Samsung Pro Plus instead as it's a lot faster with writing and reading (100MB/148 MB/s vs 58/91 MB/s for me in h2testw to test speeds) if you ever shoot in burst mode and need to clear the buffer much faster.

Perfect timing. Thanks OP! Will work perfectly with the recent SD deal on the Lenovo Thinkpad c13 Chromebook.

Sage advice, but this item is sold by Amazon, not a third-party. So the risk of counterfeit is slim to none, right? Am I missing something?

I have purchased at least 50 of this particular line of cards "sold by Amazon.com" over the years and have never once had an issue.

thanks OP, bought one from Amazon. Hopefully will get a genuine one
Posted this on the last Samsung EVO MicroSDXC deal. When you receive your card make sure to run it though h2testw [heise.de] and the Samsung Memory Card Authentication Utility [samsung.com] to make sure you don't get a fake. You can easily tell you have a fake if 1) the capacity on h2testw doesn't match what's advertised on the card or 2) the read/write speeds are significantly worse than what they're supposed to be.

Unfortunately, years ago Amazon started co-mingling their inventory with that of 3rd parties so just because it's sold and shipped by Amazon, there is no guarantee of getting an authentic card unless you run it through programs like the 2 I listed above this post.

Fwiw, I bought this 9 month ago for phone expanded storage and it broke last week. So can't comment on the reliability. But this is just one data point.

Been using this same exact model card with my GoPro 10, no issue and works great with recording 4k/60. Wish I bought at such low price!

It doesn't look like they're selling those anymore on Amazon. When I go to this page, it says that I ordered another variety previously (I bought the 128GB with the reader), but when I click on the link to the item, it's just the card without a reader. There's no mention of a reader on the pages for any size card.
AFAICT the readers only come with the Pro Plus cards now. I don't see an option to buy them standalone, which is a bummer

I'll keep waiting for the 512GB below $40 price point. They already have 256GB @ $20. Why the hell not 512GB @ $40? The flash storage prices will fall and see what that will bring to us consumers.

Normally I would agree with you but now Best Buy only has a 14 day return policy! Not a lot of room to return in case you have issues.
If the card is authentic, which you can verify by using the Samsung Memory Card/UFD Authentication Utility, and unfortunately dies outside of the return window, be it with Best Buy or Amazon, you can always file a warranty claim with Samsung.

Samsung's website does not make it very obvious as to how to do this, but the best way to file a claim on a card like this is to call Samsung Memory Services Support at 1-800-726-7864. When I called, I did not have to wait for more than a minute before a live person answered.

Samsung pays the shipping both ways. I have done all this with Samsung, and once I learned how to get a hold of the right people, it was very easy to do.

Mine (this very EVO card but 128GB) died after only three months' use. However, Samsung replaced it very quickly after I filed a warranty claim.

Based solely on the reviews on Amazon, it looks as if the write speeds on these are very good.

For instance, this review shows 130 MB/s read and write from a verified purchaser using a reader which I assume supports Samsung's DDR200 extensions (which are required form rates above 100MB/s):
I wouldn't put too much trust into that one reviewer. Think about it - they're getting faster write speeds (only in the q8t1 test) than the Pro Plus which is rated at 120MB on the write.

There's a reason Samsung doesn't say what the write speeds is for this 2nd generation EVO Select - it's about 58MB/s for me using h2testw which I find to be more real-world realistic (91MB/s on the read). There's also a reason Samsung sells the previous generation (white/green card) for more as it's actually faster on the write speeds (for me about 78MB/s). For those looking for 100MB/s writing, look at the Pro Plus..and the reader is actually pretty good and on sale is only $2 more at times.

My results: USB 3.1 Gen 2 desktop workstation using Samsung's own reader for 64GB & 128GB EVO Select (1st Gen/Green-White), 128GB EVO Select (2nd Gen-Blue), and Pro Plus 128GB & 256GB (dark blue).
