This is $1400 MSRP and I haven't seen it below $1300 so it's a nice discount if you're looking for this type of laptop.

This was the same price just a week ago. Just saying.

This is the 11th gen CPU. The 12th gen version is out now for the same original price ($1399 at BB anyway), so it makes sense that this one is discounted. It was $1099 last week, and another $100 off now.

$400 is still a pretty nice discount for "last year's model". I will say that normally there aren't huge changes between Intel CPU versions, but the 12th gen seems like an exception (moving from 4 cores up to 12 cores!). From what I've read it's at least 15% faster for single core tasks, but closer to 50% faster in multicore tests.

But still, for me it was hard to justify an extra $400 for the newer model so I bit on this. It's also Win 11 Pro, which I wanted (the newer one I've seen includes Win 11 Home).

Keep in mind, this OLED screen uses PWM at 240Hz at brightness under 50%.

Some people can notice this flickering.

Other than that the display is really good.

Also battery life isn't great. Around 5.5 hours browsing on Wifi.

All consumer OLED panels use pwm unfortunately. There's currently no cost effective way of dimming without shifting colors

What do you guys think of this vs the Ideapad carbon for 800 ? The carbon weights less (2.4lbs vs 3.1 of 14x), similar 90hz OLED screen, but this has the MX 450 while the carbon only has integrated graphics.

Avoid the carbon. Just returned one. The lid sounds like about to fall apart when tilting the laptop.

Does anyone know if the 120hz 14.5" 2.8k OLED also display flickering at low brightness?
Can't seem to find any info online.
