FYI, this was the price of these drives last Black Friday. So if you're waiting I don't know if you're going to find this particular model much cheaper.

https://edwardbetts.com/price_per_tb/ - Newegg scraper for $/TB of different storage there. Updated 27 Sept. Just providing the link. There are cheaper, but not all less expensive options fit everyone's specific size and workload needs.
If you don't need 8TB, they have a WD Red Plus 3TB NAS Hard Disk Drive for $60 https://www.newegg.com/red-plus-w...6822234464
That's $20/TB, so the deal is only because of the "Red Plus" technology and sub-$100 price.

If you will buy Seagate (I won't), the current $/TB cheapest is a Seagate Exos X16 14TB for $200 - that works out to $14.29/TB. https://www.newegg.com/seagate-ex...6822184812 The 10TB Seagate X16 version is $17.5TB today too. These have 5yr part warranties..

Lots of choices. I look at the warranty for the drives to decide what the vendor thinks. With 5 yr warranty, they think it will last forever. Anything less, means they have compelling proof it won't last 5 yrs, which is an important consideration to me.
