I respect if you believe this post deserves a thumbs down, but if you have a moment, please comment as to why you believe this isn't a good deal. Doing so would be of benefit to anyone viewing this post, including myself.

I believe a dedicated machine with an internal GPU would potentially perform better than the same card in an eGPU, but in my use case I would like to use one light/portable laptop with excellent battery life, but occasionally use the eGPU for casual gaming, photo editing, CAD, etc. I'm sure others in a similar situation would benefit from this use-case.

In my opinion, this is a good deal, which is why I posted it. I've used a third-party website to track the prices of these items for over a year, and this is by far the best price since that time.

Thank you.

I have no idea why someone may have downvoted it, but I know that I personally have no use for it because Apple Silicon doesn't support eGPUs Frown and I really wish they did because Stable Diffusion

It might help if you add "eGPU" to the title?

I didn't thumbs down the post, but the pricing on the Chroma has never been good and the only benefit is extra usb ports (which admittedly is nice so you don't have to plug in kb/mouse every time); but the 2x the price (from the refurb $180 core x) is so dirty by Razer.

Thanks OP for posting anyway. I like to keep an eye out on egpu docks myself too.

You are right if comparing a new Chroma to a refurb/renewed Core X. Keep in mind though the Chroma has a 700w PS. Also, unlike some other eGPU's, it has a second TB controller for the USB ports to mitigate low latency lag. If you're into RGB and you have other Razer devices, then the Chroma would be compatible with Synapse 3 as well. Apparently the Chroma has revised mounting brackets to make interior customization easier i.e. fans, PSU, boards etc
