So far all the Reolink cameras I have seen use more affordable and smaller sensors and do not do well in low light conditions
Very happy with the quality and ease of setup. I would recommend getting one of the 2 way audio cameras with color night vision, the color night vision acts like a flood light (you can turn it off completely, auto, or to come on per a schedule you can setup.), great for areas of your house that are dark, they are very bright...
Very customizable, there's even a buzzer that you can setup to make noise from the dvr when it detects a person (ie ours is setup to make an audible noise when someone is near the front yard).
I have the 2tb dvr with 2 RLC-811A cameras and 1 duo2 180 degree camera, currently get 10 days of 24/7 recording, it is expandable to 6tb internal and 6 tb external via esata. I did have a problem with the duo2 camera spotlights not coming on when person was detected, reolink support responded same day with new firmware update to fix the problem.
Quality is great, can read license plates in daytime 30' away on angle while cars moving 30mph.
PLEASE post your videos here of moving subjects .. I am eagerly looking forward to a good Reolink low light image capture of a moving suspect ..

I completely disagree .. I am looking for a HOME class security camera system that can perform. Reolink fails in many ways to do that for me and others.
Low light performance is just one of the key items .. compatibility is another. If Reolink was more compatible I could add them to my setup for spots which a cheap camera is OK, .. however Reolink does not play well with other kits ( see the mentioned iFrame issue )

Most people, myself included, have NOT A CLUE about evaluating security cameras when we were / are new to the topic. We're seen too many Hollywood movies to have a realistic expectation .. ( and there are a lot of shill videos on youtube .. )
People look at Reolink or other Security Cameras because they see they have a particular need to meet.
I've learned a lot since people ( some here at SDs ) recommended products to me which failed to do what I needed to. ( got a box of old cameras to show that .. hint .. this is why I really like Costco's return policy .. )
My first big post covers that .. ( see the original Lorex post I mentioned previously ).
There's a massive amount of deceptive and fraudulent messaging from Reolink ( purposeful social media astroturfing and manipulation .. ) and their fan base.
I've seen numerous posts here, there, and elsewhere stating Reolink is great at image capture even in low light conditions.
Now, to likened Reolink with a Hi-point Pistol is fair .. IF you can afford a better pistol .. you would want to buy it. If you recommend friends, family, and others that the Hi-Point is the greatest pistol around .. well that is just misleading and / or fraudulent.
To state Reolink has issues .. but the low price meets many people's budgetary needs, is fair.
To state Reolink is poor for image capture .. but you love the app and price point .. that's fine.
So spill the beans, what cameras meet your standards to capture these bad guys?
btw, what's your setup? I run them in stand-alone mode, but know Reolink can connect to a slew of systems:

Reolink does not work well with others even though it is claimed due to tricks Reolink does on the firmware .. iFrame for example is need to detect motion in some VMS systems like Blue Iris .. ( note, documented better at ipcamtalk .. )

NVR .. kit includes an NVR ..
and yes .. it does matter .. as it means you can not easily add better cameras to a Reolink system, unlike say a Dahua OEM or Hikvision OEM system.

Post your low light image captures .. otherwise Reolink is 100% not great as can be measured by various metrics.

imho Just about any proper POE system will be better in low light than what I have seen of Reolink ..
Reolink really is the king of the most affordable IP PoE cameras .. they're not fully compatible to specs, and you can see that when you need iframes to work well ( reports that some models with some firmware may fix this .. depends on the model .. )
Right now, I believe the best value / performance is getting a used business class PC running a VMS ( like Blue Iris ) and a good PoE switch ( perhaps a used HP Pro Curve ) and picking either Hikvision OEM and / or Dahua OEM cameras for each position you need covered.
For example, you may only need 2-3 good low light cameras covering the front of your house, and be ok with more affordable cameras covering the backyard and side of the house ..
I know: "oh man .. can't I just pull out my credit card and pay less for solving this check box .. " just does not work well in this case.
If you are new to this, I highly recommend just getting one decent 4MP 1/1.8" varifocal camera and a long cat5e/cat6 cable and small poe switch and learning more and seeing what positions you want to cover.
Once you know more you can keep that good camera and use it in the most critical spot and buy more affordable cameras in other spot.

You're clearly knowledgeable / work in the security industry so you likely look down on consumer cameras for your own home as you know the limitations, and your ultimate recommendation will be a camera that's 3-4x times the price which would be obviously better with its larger sensor but would love to know what cameras passes Mat2000's challenge with equally or better day time video and much better night video. But it's like I'm looking buy a sports car and you're saying it's horrible off roads so it's a terrible car.

Yes, a lot of "security camera installers" are in the business of selling smaller sensor cameras at a 30%+ markup to customers.
Many US distributors of cameras do not carry a good selection of cameras that Hikvision and Dahua make, and often charge more than most of us want to pay.
You will certainly need to just have someone run the cabling for you in as professional as a manner as possible and either DIY install the cameras and kit, or hire them to do it.
If you are able bodies and willing to pay attention to details, many of us can do a decent DIY cabling job.
You can look for low voltage cabling / security alarm wire installers, they are often fairly good at their jobs and are not in the business to sell cameras.

You're clearly knowledgeable / work in the security industry so you likely look down on consumer cameras for your own home as you know the limitations, and your ultimate recommendation will be a camera that's 3-4x times the price which would be obviously better with its larger sensor but would love to know what cameras passes Mat2000's challenge.

Lorex makes a ton of models .. some definitely do much better than any Reolink. ( honestly, probably most of the Lorex IP POE cameras in the last few years will outdo Reolink in low light image capture .. )

show us low light image capture comparisons .. honestly, showing the police I have a cool app and crappy image captures is not as useful as a crappy app and quality low light image capture.

Your examples are all about low-light shots, this YouTuber [youtu.be]repeats Reolink does great at day-time - even compared to much pricier options which is not totally unexpected - which is exactly what I'm looking for in the 1/2.x" sensor size / budget price range. I know he's one of your fav YouTubers, lol, but his and other reviewers all show day time footage to be quite good for cameras in the same price range - and my personal experience matches those compared to the consumer brands names I've mentioned.
My only take away is - a confirmation that Reolink is a great option for those not looking to spend more knowing low-light conditions is funny ghosts for the kids to watch. You have ignored my questions about what's a recommended camera at these similar price points which means there is none. The only option is to spend more, but wanted to see how many times you would ignore the challenge.

Appropriate qualifiers? ..again, these are customers, not professionals, nor does anyone need to prove their opinion or owe proof unless at IPCamTalk where that's the expectations and why many go there. Opinions with disclaimers? Low-light shots are "amazing" by some on far worse cameras than Reolink, and far more horrible at day-time video. Reolink is better imo than the others I've personally tried - that's my opinion based on that experience. You're simply stating there's a better option out there but at a far higher price point. There's always going to be better but you're ignoring customer's needs and budgets. Know thy customers. As you said, sometimes there's outliers where there's a better camera within the budget of worse cameras... that was a worthy contribution otherwise there's none found in the last dozen posts.
Perhaps this is where the market disagrees with you - cheap cameras that performs for customer's needs sells like crazy, customers are even "fans", and you think low-light performance is upmost important for this crowd. It's clearly not otherwise returns would be common. For people like yourself with higher standards and higher budgets, you'll look for better and it's no surprise you land on the business class cameras. Not for customers looking at sub-$100 cameras who want to see their kids, dog, etc. Some even spend $30, i can only imagine how bad those are. You should have left it at your first post but had to come up with a challenge to put down people and still in shock you found a person who just happen to not care about low-light video yet knows the limitation and still choose to keep it, and irks you that I'm actually happy with it. Your challenge remains outstanding: showing us a better camera than Reolink at this SD price point.
