Is this worth the upgrade from an Yamaha aventage 1000 receiver if the only thing hooked up to my tv is a PS5 and then I use arc to get audio back from my tv (lg c1) to the receiver?

Dang, $1000 receiver with only pre-outs for front speakers. What a collective turd the current line of receivers are.

Unless you specifically need hdmi 2.1 functions and your tv supports them, no it is not worth upgrading.

Depends on the manufacturer. The Onkyo RZ50 and Pioneer Elite LX305 and LX505 are great.

It's the bottom of their top line. This isn't that much of a surprise. Fronts are normally the largest passive speakers in a HT so this seems acceptable for the first rung of the Aventage line.

PS5 and C1 definitely benefits a lot from HDMI 2.1

i noitced that i need the AVR remote since the TV doesn't always recognize all HDMI ports connected to the AVR. i just decided to plug everything into the TV directly and use eARC. any down side of using eARC than connecting devices to the AVR?

In that price range, why not Denon AVR-X3700H

There definitely is some sales strategy from these manufacturers forcing music enthusiasts into their higher end products. About 15+ years back when I bought my Yamaha RX-V661, preouts for all channels were quite common. I didn't have to search it spend as much.
