But the base allowance is $100 less and there is no $100 discount from MSRP making the deal $200 worse compared to last year.
Also the changes between the 13 and the 14 are so minor that I am having a hard time justificaing the cost.
I will hold on my 13 until they give us a better value for it.

Last year's $975 for the 12PM was just too good, almost ridiculous. It's almost a free upgrade to the 13PM. Overall, the trade in values are not that great compared to last year. You don't have to upgrade if you don't think it's worth it.

From what I've seen, getting $700ish off is the normal trade in for a 2 year old iphone. But we've been spoiled the last few years with $800+ trade ins. Then last year it was even higher than that. It should be expected that going forward the deals will revert back to $700 offers.
Ultimately, competition is what's really helping us out. We really need another carrier to compete with Tmo, verizon and ATT. Maybe Starlink can eventually get there. The carriers are all so worried about people leaving, theyre offering lots of incentives to stay. I'm surprised more people aren't leaving ATT and VZ bc of their 3 year plans.

The only thing we can hope for is that the sales flop big time and Tmo is forced to cut prices so they can fulfill their massive quota they have to buy from Apple this year.
As of now, it sure looks like the iphone 14 is not going to get a lot of sales. I still see shipping dates that are immediate shipping. The pro models are back ordered so there's probably hope for better deals after this initial rush.
