Just a note, my son has this PC. This is the old case which some say has heat problems. I boosted his so there is better air flow but most people add fans. He only has a 3060ti and I added RAM to it. HP is funny with RAM so I just found the exact same sticks (something about clock speeds wont match without an AMD util).

It will also only fit a micro ATX board, so you have limited options there as well. That said, he hasnt had a single issue with it in a year. It's been great.

You are paying $600 more for GPU upgrade and CPU upgrade.

The GPU is worth about $600 more and the CPU is worth $50 more.

Essentially you are paying about regular market price for the upgrades.

6600 XT goes for $300 on sale, the 3080 is not a $900 GPU, it is a $700 GPU.

So you're paying $600 more for $450 in upgrades.

I mined Ethereum on one of these for a year. Never had a heating issue. Now use for CAD and never have any issues. No Restarts nothing.

The case has basically no airflow. The PSU (& motherboard) have no real expansion in terms of adding fans or cooling.

The 3080 may function okay but the 3090 systems throttle within seconds in these 30L cases.

You can add a 120mm fan at the front for more air intake but that's about it. And the 120mm CPU cooler is complete garbage.

I would just remove the damn case

Is there a way to remove part of the case and keep it open for better overall airflow and not worry about heating? Thanks
You could leave the clear panel side open but I wouldn't recommend it. The front 'gap' seems fixed, unless you start cutting the case metal.

I have the 30L 5600x from last year. I really doubt you need to do any cooling upgrades unless you want to make it quieter. The biggest issue is the case is not very wide and just not lots of room for a big CPU fan. But the Ryzen CPU's don't make much heat. I put another intake fan on bottom near front and an exhaust fan on top. Mine had air cpu cooling but I added a Noctua flat cooler more for noise and aesthetics. The rear fan is smaller than a 120mm and really loud… that one could be replaced with a good Noctua. The oem 3080 rocks and just as fast as my EVGA 3080 but does run a little hotter. This is a damn good deal IMO.

I found this slightly used on OfferUp for $800 with a 1440p monitor. Haven't been able to use it too much for gaming but it seems to have been ok temperature wise for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man Remastered on very high or ultra settings.

I don't have exact numbers, but I set the front fan RGB to display colors based on temp and it goes light yellow/orange when playing those games. On less intensive parts of the game it stays in the green.

Fan noise varies. It's usually pretty quiet but there was one instance I thought my computer was going to lift off because the fans were running so loud.

This looks really good on paper but my concern is heat.

It has a front 'cage' with one fan and one fan in the back. The top looks like a single AIO water cooler fan for the CPU. Doesn't seem like enough cooling if you're going to be running high FPS games.

I also doesn't look like there is room to upgrade by adding more fans or changing the CPU cooler.
I have the one with a Ryzen 5 and 1660ti GPU. It does get hot. The fan holder on top has openings that need to be removed. I put two fans up top. It reduced the heat but I think the case does have cooling issues. Yes only one fan up front and a cage for hard drives up front. Can't put any more fans in the front.

Not really. You're paying $600 more (nearly double) for $450 worth of upgrades. If you don't have a 4k or even a 1440p high refresh rate monitor, it's not going to be worth the extra expense as the performance difference will not be appreciated.

Frankly both systems are soon to be outdated, with new AMD CPUs and new RTX cards literally around the corner. If your goal is just to play modern games at 1440p medium and 1080p high quality settings at good frames, you should be happy with the 6600 XT system.
Agreed. Now is a horrific time to buy, especially high end hardware. Nvidia is openly trying to keep prices high by lowering sell in (restricting inventory) and creating artificial scarcity and move their overstock of 3XXX cards before 4XXX blows them out of the water and they can't sell them anywhere near these prices.

Demand is destroyed, AMD competition is higher than ever, they have 3XXX oversupply, the used market is saturating, and the next gen is about to drop.

The fact people are even considering paying MSRP for nearly outdated cards in a situation that should lead to one of the best buyer's markets of all time, is insanity.

You are totally going to have heat issues if you are running MS Solitaire at anything above 1080p in Ultra Mode with full animations and Ray Tracing turned on. You won't even be able to enjoy all the cards bouncing. Wait for the 4090 if you really want to experience Solitaire at 165hz.

If I'm spending $1,300, I think I'm going with the best AM4 CPU which I'd The 5800x3d. You can fit a 5800x3d and a 6800xt give or take $50-$100 around this budget. edit: and that's a 10gb 3080
