I played the original on Genesis and I've added it to my Xbox collection w/my monthly GameStop $5 MS credit.

I used to work in Gamestop a few years ago, not sure if this still works, but you could get in-store whatever you needed as Xbox Currency and minimum was $1. You could get $7, $33, whatever you needed, not sure what was the max limit for Xbox Currency but their policy is no gift cards over $200.
When asking a Gamestop employee, ask for Xbox Currency, the code will print out on the receipt.
