The only 3 pair of timberland hiking boots I've ever owned fell apart. Never again buy timberland.

The leather and Gortex ones I've owned have always lasted many years. I just ordered a pair of these as a backup.

I prefer hard, non-flexing leather over my foot in a work or Winter boot. Less of that is OK in a hiking boot.

I got a hiking pair of Gortex and hard leather at a sale price plus coupon. It was identical to one that emphasized that it was Gortex but you had to look close to learn that mine were also Gortex. They looked the same. They cost a bit less than the ones that screamed GORTEX in all the materials and labels. I can't find them anywhere now. Sorry, I don't recall the model. I'll update this post with the model if I remember. I got them at Dick's Sporting Goods. There's no point. It's just my story.

Timberland seems to have price points of quality and sturdiness of boot. $80, $120, $150 and higher. They go down to the next price below them at best or somewhere in between when on sale.

Waterproof for maybe a year then you will have wet socks just walking through damp grass.

I guess after 3 strikes you would know.

Personally I'm still really bummed that the only pair I've owned, and absolutely loved, unfortunately wore out after like 5 years of often wear. Bought them at the Michigan Avenue store.
