Oof. The toxicity is bad enough, but to not even look at the video before replying?

For others, I've got an Insta360 One X2. It's great, but it's very different from a GoPro. The stitching is impressive, but imperfect. Great for capturing 360 videos for direct upload or for when you want to select the target and convert to a regular video. However, you'll get lens flare as the camera moves, and some artifacts around the edges of the lenses. So, if you want to shoot a video where you're focused on a single thing, a regular GoPro will give superior results.

The R3 is pretty impressive and does some cool tricks for sure. But the killer feature on the GoPro 11 is across the board 10-bit color recording. With the accessibility of color grading on phones, this will give people a lot more room to get a closer-to-cinematic level of polish to their videos. The only other action cam that also can record in 10-bit color is the Insta360 Titan.

For anyone curious about 8-bit vs 10-bit and what 10-bit can do for your final product, BH Photo Video made a good explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNy24_XD38o

Have always been a GoPro fan since v1.0. Didn't upgrade every model, though, and last stopped at 8.

Just checked and I do have this Amex offer, and with its forward-facing screen, I may jump on this. Need to first see some reviews about the overheating issue that seems to plague these later models, though.

I have a Hero 9 and it recently got murdered by a faulty battery door seal and salty ocean water. I have their premium sub and GoPro still wouldn't do anything about it without cost of replacement. So that left a bad taste in my mouth and it's put me off from ordering the 11.

I have been looking at the X3 (rationale being I could use it for real estate virtual tours) and the DJI Action 3. Any reason to give GoPro another chance? I'd like to see how good the stills it produces are. I've never used an action cam for photos because the quality is so poor, but if they upped the sensor game, I would like that flexibility.

Maybe I'll just wait for BF and hope one comes down to $300.
Oh man, the subscription includes "no questions asked replacement", although I think with a $100 deductible. If they don't honor that, I'd dispute it with my credit card.

I briefly had an 8, then got a 9. Sold it and got the 10 on this deal last year. Tempted to try that again to upgrade to the 11. The larger sensor sounds great.

This is the most important factor for me, the overheating, and I'm not confident anything was changed since the form factor seems identical.
Looks like they improved the heat issues, but did not resolve them. The activity matters. I'm sure they go a long time while skiing/snowboarding. Not so much sitting in the sun at the beach.

Going to have to go with this (no amex though) because earlier in the year I had the dumb idea to update the firmware and got the version that has the critical flaw that ends up "bricking" the camera.

Now that it the 11 comes with the 1 year subscription I wonder if they will allow me to trade this 9 in for a replacement because technically its broken. I was going to buy the 11 anyways.

Also, never update your firmware until well after it's been tested.

I don't know if anybody mentioned anything about the Insta360 One RS but I think that's better than this gopro overall, especially if you get the twin model... I see a lot of people going bonkers over the X3 and that's just a dedicated 360 camera... The twin comes with a 360 lens and an enhanced 4k lens module.

The One RS can do 360 and be a regular camera by changing out the lenses (or "mods" if you prefer to call them that...)

For what it is and the price, I think the One RS is better than these gopros but I guess there's some things that the GoPro has that might be better like the screen and other subtle nuances that I really don't care about that makes people really like it...

hmmm...debating between this and the insta360 x3 as a first time action cam.

For those that have both (360 and action cam), do you find yourself reaching for one or the other?

I had the GoPro Max briefly. It's a cool thing, but I feel like it was a "jack of all trades; master of none" thing. The forward video wasn't as good as my Hero 9. The 360 stuff is awesome, but I didn't find myself going for it because the software was so absurd to use and the stitching just isn't perfect yet.

Ultimately, I'll take better image quality over gimmicks any day. Unless you NEED 360 video, or you're proficient enough at editing to make it really worth your while, I'd stick to regular action cams. I'm currently trying to dissuade myself from buying the DJI Action 3...

If you do end up buying the 11 with the subscription, the sub will cover the 9 as well. It'd be a $100 deductible to trade the broken 9 for a new/refurb 9.

I spent about two hours with support and they acknowledged that the firmware update broke it, but since I got it when it came out it's out of warranty. So I ended up getting talked into the new 11 with subscription for $420 plus another $100 to replace the 9 that I have that the firmware broke. Sucks because I only have less then maybe 20 hours record time on it and it's like new. I'm not updating firmware anymore out of fear of this happening again. And I think I am done with gopros as it is. If anyone else is having trouble like I am there is a good writeup of the problem at https://gethypoxic.com/blogs/tech...10-debrick

How do I get the $349.99 price without adding a GoPro subscription to the cart for an extra $49.99? When I remove it the price goes up to 499.99.

Disregard I read it wrong
