It was without Sub
That's probably good since the Klipsch subs in these deals are entry level quality. The "good" Klipsch subs are the SPL models. The 12" is only $499 right now on Amazon. $800-ish everywhere else. The older r-115 (basically the same as the SPL line), which is a BEAST is $750 there as well. But be advised that the early models had an underrated resistor that would over heat and kill the amp. Klipsch supposedly fixed the issue. Klipsch was replacing the amps out of warranty.
But I'd suggest the RSL Speedwoofer, a monolith sub, or an svs outlet sub over any Klipsch unless the Klipsch it was dirt cheap.

It would be cool if they added a feature that would help me figure out the optimal room size this is intended for. Maybe something like Amazon has with the AR. But until then, does anyone have any recommendations?

For bedroom this is fine unless youre an audiophile or want to rattle your house.

For living room, get a receiver that can do 80-100 watts per channel rms. Most are between 65-100 or so. Go closer to 100 if you have a lot of open areas. If you can, skip the sub and get a rsl speedwoofer 10s mkii or svs pb1000 subwoofer or whatever you can afford in the premium sub category. Also make sure the receiver has enough channels for this speaker set with atmos

These are just general recommendations for the average guy wanting a decent ht

Just my opinion.

Unfortunately there are way to many factors to consider for any credible recommendation.
A better way to look at it is proper placement, which is crucial in any setup.

Here is the proper placement for this Atmos design. See if it will work for your room environment.
I would point out, how well this Atmos design performs varies widely and isn't the most optimal performance regarding Atmos immersion.
This model is also Klipsch's entry level model.

Also velodyne. They make a mean sub. Wireless too. I paired it up w a klipsch cinema 700 bc it has the sub out function which is rare. It rocks the house.

The 112sw has been for sale many times now for $320. At that price, there isn't really a sub out there that can compete with it from a value perspective. But the whole system in this post is sub-par, not just the sub. I would save your money.

True. The reference line should be avoided. I didn't see the r-110/112/115 line on Klipsch's website so I wasn't sure if it was still "current" or old stock.

You don't need towers if you're using subwoofers, so look at any good budget bookshelves. Elac B5 or B6 ($300-ish/pair). People like the Sony SSCS5's ($160-ish/pair). There's no shortage of budget speaker recommendations, but Klipsch's "reference" line isn't usually recommended. The "reference premier" line is often recommended. I'm not a fan of typical center speakers that use an in-line woofer-tweeter-woofer design. The sound will change depending on the horizontal angle you are sitting at. A single identical bookshelf speaker is much better for a center speaker. My left-center-right speakers are identical 6" jbl in wall speakers. And actually, if you watch alone and sit between your left/right speakers, you can forego a center speaker entirely. It only exists to anchor dialogue to the screen for people sitting off to the sides. Just set your receiver to phantom center.
Try to find a $500 ported svs sub from their outlet. Or order an RSL Speedwoofer 10s.
Don't forget to check thrift stores for receivers if you don't have one. I scored a very clean Marantz NR1504 with a remote control today for $35!!

I have this setup. The only thing I'd change later is the center channel. It's to small. Also I bought 2 kliptch 15 for 750 each when they went on sale. Great sound.
