Costco sells a bottle with enough for a year. Well, except Leap Year. Then you must suffer a day of sneezies.

Costco on sale comes out to 3cents per pill. This is 2 cents per pill

I can confirm that for me at least I decided to stop taking after years of taking it and could not deal with the withdrawal. I thought I was going to scratch the skin I was so itchy.
I had this happen to me last winter (my allergies are largely seasonal). It took me a few days to figure out what was going on, the itching was intense and I had never had that reaction before! I ended up using a pill cutter and staggered days to reduce the dose slowly. It took me a few weeks but it stopped the itching.

This is generic. Zyrtec is the name brand. Generics being cheaper than the name brands should not be news.
Yup i am aware of that but never came across an anti allergy med w active ingredient as cetirizine other than zyrtec..(benadryl also works for me but couldn't recall the active ingredient). Most i came across have loratadine as the active ingredient so pleasantly surprised to see cetirizine option cheaper than Zyrtec. Unfortunately loratadine variants don't work as well for me but haven't found a cetirizine variant which doesn't induce drowsiness so i usually take claritin/costco branded during the day and zyrtec/benadryl @night…

Are there long term side effects of taking them regularly?

It's a fair question…at the store, most generic OTCs are 20-50% less than the brand name, not 90%+

I've also found with cetirizine that the gap is massive with Zyrtec, but my giant Amazon bottle from 3 years ago is still going strong!

For those that experienced weird side effects/withdrawals from zyrtec/cetirizine, check out Xyzal. It's the purified version of cetirizine (active enantiomer of cetirizine only rather than the racemic mixture) which seems to have gotten rid of the unwanted side effects.

Anecdotal but I've been taking 10mg nightly for like 10 years with no side effects. Any drowsiness is fixed by just taking it before bed.

Withdrawal is real nasty, though. Feel itchy all over, nose stuffed up, headaches. If you ever stop you definitely need to taper off slowly. I have stopped for several months before but ye olde seasonal allergies catch up to me and I really need it.

Cetirizine is also one of those antihistamines where taking it for a day or two does absolutely nothing and you need to let it build up in your system for a least a week to see the benefits. After that, missing a day is super noticeable with allergies.

They seem to work better for me than the generic ones form Sam's Club. Just ordered a bottle, thanks for the heads up.

Zyrtek, which contains the same ingredient as this, does, supposedly, make some people drowsy. I've had great success with Perrigo brand Loratadine 10mg Tab which is 1 pill for 24hr relief and is non-drowsy. It's not as inexpensive as the item in this offer but it is currently only $7 for 100 at Amazon which is pretty much the regular price there. Just FYI.

It makes me pretty sleepy if I try to take it in the daytime, so I take it at night, along with melatonin and it helps to combat my insomnia. Then, in the morning, I take generic Claritin because my seasonal allergies have turned into year-round allergies.

Another alternative, I just ordered 90 tablets of Loratadine (Claritin) on Amazon Fresh for $1.66 in my area - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074F28Q9M

I was a long time user of Zyrtec. Many many years. Skipping a pill for a few days gave me itchy hands. Drove me nuts. Googled and found it was a withdrawl symptom with Zyrtec/cetirizine. My doctor basically said I was crazy. Eventually I did end up switching to Xyzal/levocetirizine, which then I switched over to the generic. Directions say to take at night. One pill and I would wake up exhausted, so I ended up splitting the pills in half, which eliminated the fatigue and still worked for my allergies.

BUT, after even after switching pills, skipping a few days I still get the itchy hands.

Sigh.

Side note: Amazon's generic Xyzal 35 ct was $7 in May, now it's $16. Sigh again.

try natural products for a change. allerplex from standard process worked for me. No, I don't work there or get commisions.
