Just to add an alternative: Dyson has their V10 Animal Cordless Vacuum Cleaner | Iron | Certified Refurbished for $299 on eBay and it includes a 3rd Party, 2-Year Warranty. https://www.ebay.com/itm/27535375...SwTE1irY05

Just add an aftermarket Fluffy head for around $35 (Amazon) and you have a more power vacuum and a bigger dust bin. Only downside is it does require slightly more work to empty due to needing to remove the stick, but that's minimal for the nice upgrades. Also, v7 and newer attachments should work fine on the v8 or this v10 model if you happen to have an older Dyson.

FYI - They have the V11 Animal refurbished for $359.99 and you can use the eBay coupon code SAVE15REFURB for 15% off bringing it down to $305.99. Personally think this is a better deal, about the same price for a newer model.

Personally, I have no need for this Dyson or the v10 as I really love my Shark Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away Cordless which has the soft roller + anti-tangle brush system so you don't have to change heads between hardwood and carpet/rugs. Plus this thing is much less noisy, has a sealed HEPA system and a heck of a lot of suction for the price. Got if for $296 after Kohl's 30% off (w/Kohl's Card) + Received Kohl's Cash. I see this offer is once again available. I'd recommend going with the Shark, personally.

Can you link to the 3rd party fluffy head? Reviews seem to be bad for non-oem ones…

Agreed, Shark Vertex pro is amazing, I got it last year but it's really really heavy to just move around. I'm 30 yo strong male and taking it up and down 3 floors is no issue for me, but my 5 foot tall wife has issues w it.

Wanted to get the vertex for my parents due to versatility and function but it's slightly too heavy for them.

Thanks for the recommendations on the cordless Dysons

Honestly, I got this for about the same price with the fluffy head, and it doesn't compare to an LG CordZero A9 that I bought for about the same price that came with two batteries and a stand. I like Dyson generally, but both the V6 and the V8 cordless I bought were disappointments. There's a deal on the A9 here too, might want to consider that one if you're in the market.

I got a Dyson V7 from the certified refurbished store around Labor Day for $220. Is it worth returning it for this V8? Seems like a pain to have to repackage everything and rebuy the item as a replacement.

Debating whether to get a v8 or v10 as a secondary vacuum (so battery is not as big an issue)...is v8 actually better as it's lighter so easier to maneuver?

v8 is better at normal/low than a v10, and its shorter overall, so factor that into your decision.

after quick search.
v8 smaller tank .55L vs .77L. longer charge time 5.5hr vs 3.5hr
v8 lighter by 0.2 lbs. quieter by 2 decible 73vs75
v8 battery to last 2-5 years, vs v10 lasting up to 15 years. both warranty 2 years.
both suck really well (insert pervy comment here), v8 has trouble with thin carpets,
Idk how long you keep a vaccum, but v10 seems like a winner for additional 100 bucks.
