Just got my pair of motionboom plus and comparing to my motionbooms I'm enjoying these now that I've got them in TWS stereo mode and the EQ tuned. If you have money to burn it's definitely an upgrade but you need to tune the EQ.


I'm pretty good at getting these products tuned to have a JBL soundstage

My settings for my motion boom plus pair are:

+5 +3 -7 -6 -5 -4 0 +1 +2

70 150 300 600 1.2k 2.5k 5k 9k 14khz

And for my motion boom pair:

+5 +3 0 -6 -5 -1 +2 +4 +6

Yes they did. They also updated the firmware, so that it's now quite a bit less harsh at high volumes.
This speaker can NOT be touched by anything in this price or size/weight range. It's extremely loud and has good bass at low-mid volumes. Will crush a JBL Extreme in overall sound if that is important to you.

Yes, the Tribit Stormbox Blast is louder/better, but also weights well over twice as much and is so large it's not even portable for smaller people.

Did you EQ to flat response based on their frequency response chart or are you using a house or ear curve?

I literally have Harmon Kardon and JBL sound signatures etched into my brain from over 20 years of owning their products. I can just tune any speaker with the range available to match it by ear. It's one of my many useless talents lol

As an owner of one, I think theyre cool, decent battery life, but the sound is pretty mediocre even for a portable speaker. I understand the selling point is that they claim to be 2x/6db loutder, but they dont specify in what ways, I assume it in bass frequencies only using the "bassboost" button, but the overall output really isnt that loud when compared to even some smaller JBL. I think price wise its still OK value (not great value) but I would prob pass on this given another chance in the future. Granted portable bluetooth isnt supposed to really sound great I think these have a below average sound and sense of spatial imaging than some of the better ones Ive heard. If you ever get a change I'd probably go for one of those Sonos Move/Roam speakers w/ the room correction DSP built in or the just about any of the JBL portable speakers.
