Looks like they use a lot of plastic in that steel construction lol. Not the all metal tanks they used to be for sure.
I had the old style version of this as a kid (I think it used to be called the trackhoe). My mom ran it over, the car broke, the trackhoe worked like nothing had even happened. It was covered in sharp rusty edges by the end of it's life though.

Yeah they were basically indestructible. I remember my brother had a Tonka dump truck and he did all sorts of stuff to that toy and outside of putting a few dents in it, it just kept on working. I had a few as well but I was more careful with my toys. Wish I had kept them all. They don't make quality toys like that anymore (at least not for the avg consumer). Now everything is cheap plastic made in China.
I might be wrong, but I think Hot Wheels are the only toy when I was kid that is still made fairly well.
