Check your coverage area for T-mobile before joining Mint and you won't be surprised later…

I believe that you can though there is a one time port charge on Google side. However you do not need to. I have been using ONLY my Google voice number for over 10 years now using multiple carriers. If you have a Google voice number you simply ignore the carrier numbers. As an added bonus I can make and receive calls, texts, voicemails, etc from any and every device capable of running the Google voice app (my tablets, fire tvs, old phones without service on wifi, computers, etc.)
You can ignore the carrier number - but gv doesn't always work for two factor verification. I'll resort to the carrier number if i cant verify via email or my google voice number - happens a lot. Zelle is very strict about this.

I don't use Zelle so I can't speak to that but I know PayPal works fine with it as do all the other 50+ apps I use regularly. I would contact Zelle and ask if they plan to fix the issue on their end.

Could you port one number out of Google voice and the other number back in to Google voice and switch around each time?
You can just make multiple google accounts. You can have multiple signed into the web browser/phone app and switch, but ONLY one sim/carrier number can have the sim active on it. They will also both ring the phone/text message, just the one that has the active sim can/will have phone calls forwarded to your carrier number and voicemail if you have it setup like that.

Yeah its a hit or miss with some banking apps, but I think its been better recently. Those are the only ones I've had issues, never issues with paypal tho. Its a good thing to know upfront for folks who are considering porting over their number as banking is a big deal in most folks lives.

Obviously, check your coverage map; I had Mint for a few months recently but not having a signal inside any building or off the main road was frustrating as hell. I had 5 bars with 5G or literally nothing. I went back to Straight Talk after a few months.

I agree with you but would like to also note that it would be an issue with those banks technology limitations and not with Google voice or any other. There are numerous and quite good banks that use more up-to-date technology and I would recommend them for a better banking experience. Personally I used to use Simple (best bank ever) until it was shut down by BIG banks and now I use Revolut.

I think its actually great they don't allow gv numbers as they are too easily accessible. Scammers from all over the world go on sites like facebook marketplace/offerup and ask sellers who are desperate to sell their product to verify the text code for them so they can chat via phone/text. and boom the scammer has a real working US number now, thus making them able to call US numbers for free and scam on ppl. And yes there are scammers in the US as well, I am only mentioning this scheme in particular.

Also ppl leave their google accounts unlocked all the time as well on PCs.

That is a silly notion friend. That is like saying I'm glad that my bank doesn't do online banking because that can be scammed. Silly.

There's a good reason why zelle doesn't do it, all I'm saying. Also Zelle goes straight into/out the bank account, no delay/no balance within the app, Paypal/cashapp/venmo doesn't do that.

Maybe thats the reason - because they don't have an app/website that you login, so they have strict 2FA rules.

We do not know the reason Zelle does anything, that is pure speculation based on not one fact. As I suggested, I would contact Zelle and ask them.

Zelle also only allows you to send 500.00 per week which is quite limiting this day in age.

YMMV, but I purchased a 4GB for 3 month plan for $45 from Best Buy a few weeks ago and when I activated the sim, it gave me 6 months for $45. I didn't see it advertised so YMMV.
I believe those offer runs periodically by mint, coincidentally your activation falls into offer window, secret bonusSmilie
