This or wait for a deal on the 3? Still rocking a DC14 animal that I bought new, so I don't upgrade too often! 🙂

How does this compare to the Dyson Origin Upright that is usually $200? I find some of the newer Dysons struggle on thick carpet.

Me too but two parts just broke thankfully everything is still available from dyson. $30 and its back up and running.

Yep this will struggle on super thick carpet. If you have normal carpet you are good to go

Paid 299 for this 3 years ago, and while it has a few annoying design quirks I would purchase again - still sucks like new and nothing has broken, not even a chip in the plastic.

Design quirks I could do without: 1) self-collapsing hose still trying too hard to collapse while you're using it; 2) very awkward to carry; 3) the internal mechanism that locks it in standing mode is too hair-trigger and can release when you don't want it to
