I have both the i5 from 2022 and the i7 from 2020 (both in Gram 17 units from the respective years), and the 12th Gen i5 runs circles around the older i7. Haven't had the chance yet to test the newer i7.

Speakers sound subjectively louder and a little nicer in this gen, but they're no replacement for earphones or external speakers. Enabling loudness equalization helps a lot.

New 12th gen i7 is a big jump from the 11th gen (which was already fast). Thermals on this generation aren't great, if you're handy its not too bad to remove the bottom and repaste the cpu and remove some tape that's blocking some of the airflow.

All the Grams so far have had severely underpowered cooling to save on weight. I repasted my 2020 without seeing any improvement. I also tried undervolting, but even tiny undervolts were unstable so I just stuck to stock. Did you see any tangible improvements after repasting?

The speakers on my 2021 LG Gram 16 were its Achilles heel. Great machine, thin, light, terrific screen, but you couldn't enjoy any media without headphones.

Is it because their paste doesn't make good contact or because you use new super paste?
