Always someone. I have never got one or worked anywhere that people requested a touch screen. I get tablets..

i bought one from costco with the newer i7 17 for $1099, love it, but i think speaker is defective
The speakers are bottom firing. In my experience the sound quality is tolerable if placed on desk. However, if there is nothing on the bottom for the sound to bounce off of, the speakers can sound very tinny and underpowered.

The speakers on my 2021 LG Gram 16 were its Achilles heel. Great machine, thin, light, terrific screen, but you couldn't enjoy any media without headphones.
This is one of the best laptop accessories I ever bought.

Works awesome. Great sound and uses just usb

Great price. I think I paid about an extra $400 for 32 GB of memory and possibly a bit older i7. I'm happy with my purchase as the laptop feels solid despite the fact that it's lightweight. Doesn't feel as flimsy as you'd expect a lightweight laptop to feel. It will be interesting if LG can take any market share, as it's a solid brand.

The chassis of the Gram is plastic, and can flex and squeak. Definitely not sturdy like the MacBooks.
If you have owned or used MacBooks, you will find the speakers on the Gram very underwhelming.
The LG Gram is not plastic. It's magnesium alloy and feels kind of like paper to the touch because it has a matte texture. And yes, it's more flexible than aluminum so it bends rather than denting, but it's still metal.

+1
Be advised that the texture is not that of bare metal, but of a non-conductive coating. It can wear off over time if not cared for.

Non touchscreen
That's why it's 16" and 2.64 lbs.

I have the 2-in-1 version of it, and absolutely love it. It's heavier because of touchscreen, but still feel superlight. Cannot imagine how light this non-touchscreen one must feel.

How's the build quality compares to XPS/MBP/Surface?
Apples and oranges - for this light it is superb but you won't have the same structural build (no flex), heft, or sexy factor. It feels like cheap plastic but is actually magnessium alloy. Carry one of these around for a week and you'll love the form factor all day long over all those others.

You really have to value weight a lot to appreciate this. Perhaps you go on airlines that weighs backpacks, etc or you wear your backpack all day and appreciate every ounce saved. I thought I was in this category. But everytime I handle the gram and feel the flex, I ask myself why did I spend this much? It definitely doesn't feel premium.

Then I got the Samsung book s touchscreen windows version that was on SD marked down to 300 for 13.3 inch screen. It only weighs 2.0 lbs and still no flex. It can be done.

Light really mattered to the Mac brigade when it was their main selling point.

I had a top of the line 13" Samsung 8 years ago. Super slim, great built and 4k screen (killed by a cup of water). I would continued buying Samsung if they continued the quality with new models but it's shocking that 8 years later, Samsung doesn't have a comparable laptop. Sounds like the LG could be competitive if they made it stronger.

The description says "2x8GB" of RAM. This is not correct, is it? Based on past posts, this model does not have DIMMs.
