Exact same thing happened to me for my Costco order. In my case, I happened to notice that I was being charged the full amount while the shopper had already started shopping. The only thing customer service was willing to do for me was cancel the order, even though the glitch was their fault. When I asked if I would be charged a cancellation fee, the rep had the balls to say YES $15. Wow. Finally, she was willing to "waive" the fee as a "one time courtesy."
How insulting. Instacart you suck.
(Btw.I was hit with this $15 cancellation fee before when they messed up another order. That's why I knew to ask this time and make sure they don't do it again. WARNING: Both times, they did not tell me about a cancellation fee. It'll just show up on your credit card bill.)
$15 cancellation fee is very generous. Most delivery services give you no sort of refund when you cancel.
Doordash right after you place an order you don't even have a second to cancel because I believe some restaurants accept the order instantly.
Instacart you have several minutes before a shopper is assigned
All I got was a $25 off $65 Staples coupon. Unsure what I would use it for
That one is easy to use. Place an order for $65 at staples but order $25 of anything you want and then order a $40+ of item you don't want. Then once the shopper has started shopping, text him and ask him to mark the item you don't want out of stock and you changed your mind.
Has anyone been able to use this today? I added it to my account, and it's still showing up at checkout, but I don't want to place the order if they're going to remove the discount afterwards.
(For me, it looks to be a $20-$25 savings after delivery fee and tip. I'm getting mostly sale items, so still a slick deal in my book.)

Yeah for me it is showing 5% left. place the order and then see if it shows after you placed the order. You can cancel before a shopper has accepted

I just tried it. During my first try, the coupon was missing in the order status. Canceled it right away and placed the 2nd order. The $50 coupon was then shown up in the order status. I just printed it out and will use it to dispute the charge if the final receipt removes the coupon.

yes I'm guessing what happened it is it was "used up" by scheduled orders or orders that were cancelled for all items being out of stock
That means the 5% that's left is the 5% after everyone who checked and saw the promo was dead and never went back to check again after some amount of orders are cancelled

When you cancel an order instacart pays the shopper. It makes sense that they would charge you a fee for that. Otherwise you just have to cancel before the shopper has been assigned.
Same way on doordash. You have to cancel before the restaurant accepts the order and starts "preparing" the food. Sometimes it's not possible because the restaurant seems to switch to "preparing your order" instantly.
Any $15 cancellation feel you were hit with before is always your fault. If instacart messes up an order and THEY cancel it, you are charged no fee. It's always your fault.
instacart is extremely generous here and they never adjust promos after the fact. That means if a promo is $50 off 100 and I order $100 of items, and then tell the shopper to refund a $50 item while they are shopping, I still keep the full $50 discount. Or I deliberately order $50 of out of stock items.
Only time these mistakes can happen is if YOU make a mistake, not instacart. I don't see how an order can go wrong to where YOU feel the need to cancel it without spotting it beforehand, like when a promo is not working.

Be aware of false advertising from Instacart! This particular coupon works differently: if any of item is not in stock and you got refunded, makes your total below $100, they will delete the coupon and charge you full amount on your credit card on file. They ask me to use the still active coupon on my next qualified order, screw them!

Worst company ever!! I redeemed the coupon and ordered $100+ worth of items from Costco. At checkout the coupon was successfully applied but when I received the items, I was charged the full amount. Contacted their customer service and all they keep replying is the coupon has a redemption limit and the redemptions limit was reached before I checked out. Wtf kinda response is that!!! Screwing over customers because their internal system sucks..
It is not showing in my instacart app. I opened my email and click on the coupon amd it opened in my app. After 2 mins i see the coupon in my app.
Tried ordering $110 worth of items and it showed $50 coupon. Once i placed order, i dont see the coupon in order total.
Strangeeee.
I dont want to be in trouble so cancelled the order.
that's your fault. These promos go fast or not at all. This one went fast and you should have spotted it quicker and checked out quicker. When I saw the email it was 70% left and I checked in a few mins and it was at 60%. I made sure to check out as quickly as possible
What are you talking about? I successfully applied the promo to my account early yesterday. The $50 off was listed under my available promos. I checked out and submitted the order WITH THE $50 OFF APPLIED. How's this my fault?

Is the fee still generous even when it's their fault? Is the fee still generous when you call them, they admit to screwing up and THEY cancel the order for you, but then charges the fee without telling you?

Did your final order amount exceed $100 (before any taxes, fees, etc),after it was shopped? Did they cancel anything off your order, or did a price on your order fall, that caused the total to fall below the threshold? I'm not placing blame, because that clearly lies with Instacart if you initially met the Terms, which you did. I'm just trying to nail down the problem here.
This coupon is totally screwed up. It has other issues too. Anyone using it is doing so at a big risk (to their time).

Your order will come under for only a few dollars
