Just FYI, in the discussion someone mentioned they got one on the last deal and it was new, but when they registered it on their Microsoft account it showed that the warranty was already expired. The reply also had good info about faulty 2nd screen

"Because these things have what appears to be a pretty common problem with the main OLED screen overheating and flashing bright green, or turning green permanently, which leaves you with one screen instead of two. The warranty is probably expired because Microsoft doesn't want to replace them for free under warranty.

This is what happened to mine:"

It is a very strange device.
Too big/bulky to be a phone and not good to be a tablet because of the split screens.

Price/performance is great for sure.
2 year old device at this point with a decent update track record [microsoft.com], but it is currently on android 11 and it seems it will get Android 12L [windowscentral.com]. How about beyond?

To me it seems it is just a novelty device.

edit:
But on the other hand... Tablets at this spec would be priced at least $400+.

Phone, or tablet. Why a hybrid. It won't work good as either.

I know a lot of reviewers complain about the camera. I on the other hand don't really care about the camera. As a selfie camera for video it's a lot better most newer phones. There are a lot of other tech missing when compared to newer phones, but my biggest gripe is no headphone jack and no NFC.
Since this is a Microsoft product for productivity, I am planning to use it strictly for work. As a work product I have not have any major issue. For the price I accept a lot of the trade offs.

If you didn't buy this what would be the closest thing you can buy that functionally performs the same tasks?

I really like it. Been using it for over 6 months as my primary phone.

If you are an android person, I think you will like this phone
If you need to take quick pics (such as if you have a 3 year old child), this isn't the phone for you.

Otherwise, it is really nice and like having two phones (one on each side, with different apps open).

Very good productivity.

Also, the typing is great, because you turn the phone sideways and the keyboard takes over one whole side and gets really big for easy typing.

Not for everyone, I guess, but I very much like it and will continue to use it. Great size too for my bad eyes.

I have both, this Microsoft Duo and Samsung Fold 3. The Fold is my recommendation if you have the money. There is nothing in the $250-300 new that would compare.

This phone has so much potential and only mistake Microsoft did was AT&T exclusive.

I keep looking at deals for this thing as they pop up, and I'm half tempted to buy one. But I have no use for it (Have a Z Fold 3), and it would just be another Android gadget I'd have. But the concept is interesting, and the slimness is incredible compared to the Fold. But still missing too many things to make it useful - outer screen, outer camera, dual screens vs foldable/single screen inside, too wide, etc.

Yes. The one big advantage over the 2 IMO is this one folds flat.

My work restrcts phones with old operating system versions. I cannot depend upon a device which is 3 years old and has very late in upgrading versions. I really liked the device but it is no use to me with outdated version. Even if they upgrade to 12 next month, no guarantee about 13 upgrade and it makes obsolete in 1 year. I will wait for duo 2 deal for my secondary work phone.

All you have to do is provide Microsoft proof of purchase from Woot and they will adjust the date giving you an entire year of warranty.
