You only have an additional fee if you are adding a cellular plan for your watch (typically 5-10 dollars a month). These watches do not come with cellular and do not require a new "line." Budget wise if you are not looking for advanced features and are just happy with heart rate monitoring (and I think sleep monitoring) the Apple Watch SE will do just fine.

For future reference, I work at Target. We are told we do price match (including Amazon) as long as the item is in stock to where you are price matching.

Call Target. I probably got lucky with an agent that was nice and hasn't known about the restriction yet. Placed the order and the agent refunded me the differences. About to go pick up my order at the store once it is opened.

BTW - I ordered the 40mm Midnight SE for my wife and the total came out to $136 (I think there is a 5% redcard involved here) with tax.

My local staples had the 44mm SE (2020)

Kinda surprised. I got a USB-C charger instead of USB-A. IIRC the release variants of these were USB-A.


Will sell my Series 3 on ebay or something.

Our local store is one of the "select" stores for this deal. I asked the wife if she wanted to drive the 3 miles to pick one up. She asked if it was an Apple watch and when I replied "yes", she declined.

Oh well ...
