Team Group has a questionable failure rate and terrible warranty that involves mailing it to Taiwan at you expense….gamble. Great price.

Exactly this. I used to disregard this and buy teamgroup until I finally had an issue (around a month after purchase) and it required mailing to Taiwan at cost. Won't be buying their products again.

Totally fair…most people won't have an issue…but if you do…whoa boy…not great. I refuse to save $10 and effectively have zero warranty…but to each their own. It might be fine.

If the drive failed in a month why wouldnt you just return it? I buy most stuff on amazon and they for sure would have refunded. for sure a shit warranty though. Glad the drive i got is still kicking a few months later.
That's not the point. The point is when I contacted them they wanted me to send it out of country and pay shipping. Perhaps my wording wasn't clear - I did eventually return to Amazon (bought it from there, not newegg). I refused to send it back and pay for shipping. You can do what you want though, of course, I personally won't be buying from them again with such a crappy warranty.

Agree with the sentiment that it's good to see prices of SSDs falling lately. For 2TB at a $100....even if from TeamGroup....it is priced aggressively relative to the competition.

Big question you have to ask is who needs 2TB on a drive like this? 500gb to 1TB is usually going to be enough for most in this space...and then it's on to bigger 3.5inch drives if you really need more space OR onto an an NVME upgrade for better speed. So less and less need for drives this size and with this specs.

TU but pass because Newegg. Good luck to all who like to gamble
Yeah. TeamGroup are garbage and NewEgg is garbage

I'd only recommend this for storing games on... The ones that you can redownload when this crashes. Nothing that you want to keep.

just a virtue signaling baby who came to complain. dont worry this is a good barebones SSD and the price reflects that
I own these drives. The seller is questionable. I'd prefer not buying from them in the future.

I have a similar SSD (Micron 1100) as my game drive. For instance, Apex Legends for PC won't run on a spinning drive. And at this point, why buy a spinning drive ever again. 1TB spinner for $30 or 1 TB SSD for $55. No brainer if you have the extra $25.

they spec identical - going by datasheets - any SSD these days has SMART (for diagnostics) and TRIM support...
Quote from AnubianWolf :
Since I was curious, and both are up on this page now: CX2 has wear-leveling & ECC... AX2 has both those, plus SMART & Trim features

So AX2 better in every way?
folks still own laptops and not everyone has an m.2 slot; these make great direct HDD replacements and if you don't have PCI-e m.2 you're limited to SATA speeds anyway.

Oh I agree that spinners are quickly becoming a thing of the past. But if your goal is just data storage, I've seen WD Black 4TBs sell new for as low as $99, 2TBs for $60-70. Those things have a better track record for reliability (I have some from back in 2012 that have made it 10 years...zero errors). And that's IF you need something local on tap that can hold a lot of large files.

People that actually need 2TB+ are a pretty small demographic to begin with. And the Venn diagram of people that want/need a 2TB will overlap a ton with the people most likely to upgrade to an NVMe system (for the speed upgrades), thus leaving behind 2.5 inch drives altogether.

SSD is probably not a place to needlessly skimp to save a buck
Should buy the best you can afford.

If all you got is $99 for 2TB .....then thats that.

I was considering getting this, and then I got an email this morning for 10% cash back at newegg if i use my Capital One credit card. Pushed me over the edge.

I know people have their issues with newegg, but they've always served me well.

I will wait for BF to hopefully purchase a better drive for around the same.

Thx for input !
A lot of places make you pay shipping for an RMA. IDK about sending out of the country.
