I have this laptop, got it from Micro Center about 6 months ago for $899 brand new.

It's a beast, but be aware the screen is TERRIBLE, 144hz is a lie and it suffers from some of the worst ghosting I've ever encountered on a modern LCD.

There's a model with a 1440p screen and another with a 300hz 1080p, both are well reviewed and I'm planning on trying to find of of those screens and swapping it in, because gaming on this 144hz screen is just terrible.

damn it's like you guys live in 2006...

it has 2 m.2 slots, 2 RAM slots and a wifi cards slot, getting anything with an HDD is practically impossible now
all you have to do is flip it, take the backplate off and change add more

and WTF was that about 6gb of RAM? that's the VRAM.... and no, 32gb is still overkill for anything gaming related

please refrain from giving terrible advice next time

6gb vram*
It is superb on a laptop
Most laptops at this price point are rtx 3050 (4gb vram)

The model linked is a rtx 3050ti
The one on this deal is rtx 3060
huge difference between a 3060 and a 3050ti
Most ppl will recognize a laptop as a gaming laptop starting rtx 3060
Rtx 3060 hasnt dropped this low in price until recently
(Gamestop had a similar setup in a lenovo legion 5 for similar price last week, the thing sold out in minutes)

Someone tell me how many years I can expect to get out of this thing? Should I wait for something more future proof? This can play most games at 1440p 60fps right? I know nothing.
I'm still rocking my laptop with a 1060 and 8th generation I7. I bought it 3 years ago or so. It still does everything pretty well.

With laptops, you can't change a whole lot but I added 32gb RAM (total) and a 512 extra SSD hard drive and it's great. You can get 3 years easily out of a laptop, 4 depending on if you don't mind medium settings on the newest games that came out. A lot of it also depends (on gaming) if the games are using new engines or not. Most games are still using engines from a few years ago so I barely need to drop any settings on mine if I play. The ram is the more useful metric. 32gn on mine has done wonders for having tabs open and doing multiple things at once. 8gb on this particular model completely sucks in my opinion. I'd upgrade immediately on that.

Right above my threshold. Looks like they really want me to buy this machine I have no need for!

A gaming laptop with an RTX 3060, for $729, before October is very encouraging. It's one deal, but if this means anything for the BF sale season then we should see some good deals on 3060 based laptops.

No dedicated gpu laptop uses the usb-c port for power delievery. I wish they would but that's one thought to keep in mind.

I bought a Nitro in 2017 and another in 2018 to use in multimedia development. Maxed out RAM with 32GB and added 2nd SDD. Both have worked flawlessly since. I did replace the fans in both of them recently when the fans in one of them got rattly.

Great deal for those that want to save about $200-$500 for a laptop with this type of gpu or better.
But if willing to save more & spend up to $1100+ you can get a little better, like rtx 3070 or more features larger SSD space, 16gb ram, better screen, form factor, or better build quality from another company eg. Lenovo, or other...And if willing to wait one full year, then RTX 4060/4070 will be an option in the $1000+ range.

As far as future proofing, No matter which gaming laptop you select, it usually keeps you happy playing latest games for about 3-5 years....then everyone feels like upgrading again...whether that be console, desktop or another gaming laptop. (Some of us can't afford keeping on getting the latest gaming upgrade in that time frame, and just wait it out a few more years)...

What is the speed of the 8GB DDR4 RAM in this machine?? (Answer: Its PC4 3200)

Was going to hold out for another deal/restock on that Lenovo Ideapad with the Ryzen 6 Series chip but I'll take a chance on this laptop. The 3060 has sold me.

Its Walmart so you can test it for 30 days and if it sucks return it.

My Acer Predator Helios 300 from 2019 is as good as the day I bought it. i7, 16gb 3060ti so it's not even close to antiquated compared to what shows up here. So I'd say Acers are pretty decent.
there is no 3060ti for laptops
