So the difference between a lenovo legion compared to this xps 15 9520 is the legion looks and feel like a gaming laptop as oppose to the 9520?
Anyone here paid for 2000 dollars plus to upgrade the ram and ssd to 32gb and 1tb? I do see in the reviews that many people say it is the most expensive windows laptop out there though.
Also, what is dell return policy on this? If you purchase it and want to return it, are there restocking fees? Does it depend on if you opened it or not? Obviously if you use it and there are issues you can return it. But does dell give a refund or they send you another machine or they give you credit?
Lenovo legion 5 pro is not a cheap plastic crap. It's a top notch laptop with great cooling.
either way, good luck to dell for getting much people to buy this
The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is a GAMING laptop ffs. The Dell XPS 15 is a multimedia laptop. Entirely different categories. Nobody buys an XPS 15 purely for gaming, and nobody buys a Legion 5 Pro primarily for multimedia applications.
But please, go ahead with these inappropriate comparisons. And while you're at it, let's compare a sleek Lexus sedan to a Ford F-150.

There's more wiggle room in an F150. Both will get you from point A to point B, but the Ford will also allow you tow and carry heavy loads as well. Those towing characteristics also contribute to a relatively smooth ride. Also a pretty quiet cabin too if you opt for the electric model. In a similar fashion, a gaming laptop can do multimedia as well, with less throttling. It's more capable with more wiggle room should you need to push it.

if you want to get into this we can - the heat issue with the two XPS computers I was was a common issue among them and was not related to the processor or GPU at all - it was related to the VRM overheating.

That was not my point.
You're indicating that there is no way for Dell to improve upon their past mistakes.
I've worked in IT for well over 20 years. I've been burned by every brand. Do I believe that a reputable manufacturer *wants to* throw away a brand image that cost them decades of investment?
Yes - Dell had XPS overheating problems that were real. I get that. Engadget, which have built quite a brand name and reputation over nearly two decades, recently called the XPS 15 2022 model "nearly perfect".
I purchased an HP Envy 13 because I couldn't afford an XPS with the same features. The XPS was my preference (especially OLED). Dell commands this price because it is widely considered the best business travel PC because it has very nicely executed design and engineering. Dell is not going to willfully throw the XPS brand out the window. This would encourage class-action from their customers and destroy the reason that they exist: profit.
$1400 for an RTX 3050!?!?! Are you guys out of your minds? If you are not a gamer or tech savvy avoid defending this post as a good deal please. This is not even a deal, that's a rip-off
There isn't one answer for everyone, that is why they offer multiple resolutions. Most people's 65-inch TVs are still 1080p. Plus you will get longer use out of the GPU.
I don't know anyone that will buy a 1080p tv… just because I have a 4core I-5 with a cracked screen now, doesn't mean I'll buy one. And a 65" tv is way more painful to dispose and swap than a computer

how about for $1280? i have a amex offer for $120 back
I'm a big xps fan… but just fyi, my new 9510 with the 11th i7 and 3050 is waiting it's 3rd repair call, due to overheating under light loads… and I've only had it 3 months. If the design is any similar I would definitely check reviews on this one.
SAME! Xps9570 owner here. I had to repaste the heat sink, add thermal pads between the mosfets and the case, while also use TheottleStop… still have throttle issues. Also had audio issues but they pale in comparison. Ill never purchase an XPS again
Did you try a clean windows install? Heard some people online tried that for better thermal control
