Can someone give me ideas for use cases
I like the functionality for power monitoring. I have a Smarthings switch with this functionality and love it. I plugged it into my @home rack and figured out how much it costs to run my equipment per day. I also use another on a schedule to restart my Roku which freezes up every month or so if I don't restart it.

Ummm ... Yikes! Looking at the Amazon reviews from Japan (??) You can see several photos of melted units?!!
If you are talking about the one posted by "flip," he says he had it hooked up to a space heater, which you aren't supposed to do. With that said, it looks like the consensus is that this plug's maximum load is more "theoretical" than practical. My guess is that it'll do fine if it's connected to lighter devices like lights (pun intended).

so tempted.. I've been using the TP-Link KP115, which are about this price for 1 and almost never go on sale.
I was able to get a KP-115 last November and again this July for $3.49 on a Prime deal. Keep an eye out if you have Prime in November. I like these a lot.

I have these and they work great after flashing tasmota onto them: https://github.com/kendallgoto/switchbota its a little tricky but for anyone running any automation or homeassistant, its really nice to have them be all local.
Thanks. Good bye my future Saturday!

What does Tasmota provide that the device in its native state doesn't?

Who says you aren't supposed to hook smart switches up to space heaters? That's one of my primary uses for mine and I've never had an issue with several different brands. Most manufacturers actually encourage you to use it for that purpose, and rated at 15A these switches should be capable of the load a space heater draws.

I mostly use them to track the electric usage of various things, such as my network gear, NAS and media server, gaming PCs, and mini-fridge.

this past spring I used them to automatically turn the grow lights for my garden starts on and off.
