Amazon has a few Fender Player Plus models on sale. In some cases they're less expensive than the standard player line. So far I've found:

Player Plus Nashville Telecaster (Opal Spark) [amazon.com] for $799.49 (MSRP $1,129.99) Expired, now $992.07

Player Plus Nashville Telecaster (Aged Candy Apple Red) [amazon.com] for $855.13 (MSRP $1,129.99) NLA

Fender Player Plus Telecaster (Cosmic Jade) [amazon.com] for $776.10 (MSRP $1099.99) Expired, now $1099.99

Fender Player Plus Telecaster (3-Color Sunburst) [amazon.com] for $752.49 (MSRP $1099.99) -Now $714.87 > now $681.89

Fender Player Plus Stratocaster (Opal Spark) [amazon.com] for $815.04 (MSRP $1099.99) NLA

The Player Plus series differs from the Player series in that the guitars have:
  • Noiseless pickups
  • Locking tuners
  • 12" neck radius
  • Rolled fret edges
For me, these are all advantages. However, fans of vintage Fender guitars -- especially models with 7.5" radius necks -- might not like the modern neck of the Player Plus series.

I'm 99% sure that I've missed a few Player Plus models that are also on sale. Kindly leave a comment if you've found additional ones.

These guitars shipped and sold by Amazon, with Amazon customer service.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

since this happens "all the time" according to you, why don't you post some friend's numbers so we can all get artist pricing
the Player series is irrelevant to this post since these are all Player Plus models.

the "history" is pretty short considering these models have been available for about a year. SD shows one Player Plus post in the same price range.

i'm still waiting for you to show how these deals happen "all the time," as you've said. for some reason, you won't or can't do that.
12" radius neck is definitely a selling point for those that prefer a modern feel. there are some other differentiators, some objectively better and others that are subjective. they include:

Modern C neck: definitely a subjective preference
Rolled frets: objectively a nicer feature and requires more labor
Locking tuners: certainly more expensive and most find them useful for string changes
Noiseless pickups: some people find them a bit flat, while others think they sound good. most think that the noiseless pickups on the American Ultra series are better.
Push-pull pot: on the Player Plus Strat it adds the neck pickup to the first and second positions, while on the Player Plus Tele is puts the two pickups in series. it's never bad to have more sound options.
Satin fingerboard finish: the Player finish is gloss, while Player Plus is satin. this one is subjective.
USA string trees: these are better than the Mexican string trees on the Player
Block saddles: these are better than the bent saddles on the Player
Gig bag: this is include with the Player Plus and not the Player

i'm probably missing a few things, but those are the Player Plus vs. Player differences i can remember.

not a deal. just buy a used fender, you can find them in near mint to player worn, whatever you like. you'll spend less or the same and they will hold value better. Don't be a sucker.

baked maple...lol
Check the prices on reverb.com. You won't find a *used* Player Plus for cheaper than this. $750 is the cheapest I see.

Incorrect. The models listed in this post only launched a year ago and were definitely not discounted that steeply.
Must have been the placid blue player,i guess the plus represents the price increase for a MIM.

the Player and Player Plus series have many differences, some major and others minor. depending on what you want, it might be worth it and it might not be. here's a list of the differences.

Yeah, Fender realligned their offerings making the MiM better made, with the "Player" series more along the lines of the old MiM models.

Honestly the Squier Tribute models are where it's at- usually $500 or less and the build quality is typically fantastic.

I would hold off and let Fender sit on their stock of overpriced instruments. Yes, I realize that inflation has finally caught up to the MIM series, but I still feel like Fender is gouging. The quality has taken a bit of a dive in the last few years. Seen lots of finish checking and fret sprout. Most of their MIM and MIA guitars will need to go straight to a guitar tech to fix some issues before they are what I would consider playable.other issues are a non-starter, like finish checking and lines (paint dive) in the finish cause they didn't let the wood dry long enough, didn't properly seal the wood or didn't wait long enough between finish coats. It's shoddy work as far as I'm concerned.

maybe, but Fender prices are up across the board since the pandemic. i don't have any problems with the MIM stuff i've played in the last year. the Fender Player, Fender Player Plus, and Charvels i've tried from that factory have been good to great.

a lot of anti-MIM sentiment is overblown. for the most part, the machinery at the Mexico factory is newer than the equipment in California. the MIA guitars get more time and labor on fit and finish. for $800 and under, the Player Plus guitars are quite good.

It's not just since the pandemic, prices have doubled in my estimation in the past 5-6 years, and the golden days of ebay have passed now with taxes collected,IRS reporting over $600 sale and crazy shipping charges. It was great ride while it lasted. Smilie
