    I recently got rid of my LS50s (I know these are metas but I've tried both the difference isn't drastic) after ownership of almost 3 years running them using a mcintosh power amp. Although these speakers in general hit above their price bracket, they definitely have unique sound. To me honestly they were flat but fatiguing to listen to. After 30-40min of listening I'd feel my ears would hurt. They have a bit of "shouty" midrange that can but less desirable for some people. Not to mention its very important that they be run using clean class A or Class AB amps, Class-D amps from receivers and low power amps will make this sound thin and shrill.

    All in all, if you are open to experiment, go for them, but if you have doubts, its okay to pass on these till you can audition in person/have the right amplification.

    Not sure why OP is getting trolled...I'm not in the market for these but maybe somebody is; this is in fact a DEAL according to amazon price history unlike a lot of the garbage that's posted here.

    Confused as well. This is a good price for these, I was in the market for high end speakers last month and never saw them this low.

    We've been running a 5.1 system from "Orb Audio" for years. While they look great and are small, they don't deliver amazing sound quality (especially, I'm assuming, compared to speakers like this). Everything is run through a Denon Amp.

    Would it make sense to upgrade the front side speakers to these KEF speakers? Would that cause any issues with balance or even with amplifier settings?

    I'm super tempted by this price. But $1300 is no small amount of money. As the Fed keeps raising rate to temper demand and trigger a recession, it may not be entirely impossible for even bigger promotion in the future. I'm hoping price would drop to $899 like the old LS50 did. laugh out loud

    AVR should be set at the highest impedance setting.

    I brought and returned the LS50 in 2017 which I kind of regretted. They were $1k/pair at that time. I know this question has been asked before, what's the main difference between LS50 and meta version?

    I personally do not consider it as Off, this was a covid mark up. Most of the stores had R3 pre covid around 1700 all the time. Prices from most AV equipment is finally going back to where they belong.
    R3 hit 1300 sale a few times during covid and I think this is a sweet spot for these speakers. Fingers crossed once the new version is out they will fall to this level.

    It will be interesting to see how much "better" the new version will be. I really liked the r3 during the audition.

    All that said, a tri-amped pair of 3 or 4-way towers could be very, very nice if designed properly. I don't own any KEFs, but I certainly respect their engineering.
