As a PC this could be a good deal for the right user with the right application. Most likely Acer was stuck with a bunch of functional returns on a product like this not because of manufacturing defects, but rather because of poor user experience driving returns/warranty claims. This minimally-specified machine would have been great for a chromebook but just barely checks all the boxes for what is needed to boot Windows 11. Now simply because a CPU can run Windows doesn't mean that CPU should be used to run Windows. I don't mean to suggest this computer is broken, but I would suggest that anyone shopping for a general-purpose daily driver PC could be making better investments despite the tempting price points manufacturers have achieved with CPUs like the one in this device.
Many of these ultra-low power CPUs were originally intended for embedded applications and not as general purpose computers. However, since these CPUs are also fully compatible x86 CPUs - and cheap ones at that! - manufacturers could pump out PCs at new amazing price points. Too bad that for the buyer the experience was never going to be particularly good when using a CPU better suited to digital signage than rendering video in Windows using Adobe Premiere (or Minecraft, or video conferencing with grandma, etc.).
Additionally, Windows doesn't really perform well anymore at 4GB. More than half of the RAM space can be consumed at idle after booting up(!) - and in a 4GB PC this is incomplete as Windows is forced to limit how much of the operating system is loaded into RAM to conserve space. Paired with a weak CPU this just creates a negative feedback loop wherein your first application loaded after booting up starts demanding loads of page file/virtual memory/SSD-storage-as-RAM and the CPU to service those requests was already being overtasked with the basics of running Windows. Windows PCs limited to 4GB, especially those not equipped with 4-core i-series CPUs, are better suited to power users who can make the appropriate optimizations (possibly including removing Windows for a Linux operating system).
Good luck!

However, it's worthy of spending just $44 extra for much more powerful quad-core Ryzen 3 3350U (passmark 5897 vs 1961) + PCIe SSD + WiFi 6 + Fingerprint reader + Backlit keyboard + USB-C port (for data)

UNLESS u strictly prefer a lower-powered Celeron for longer battery life (& fan-less design?)

Linux has several types like, Debian, Arch, Fedora Redhat...etc. Ubuntu based on Debian been the most popular. Even so, there are so many different distributions based on Ubuntu with different DE(desktop environment). Linux Mint mentioned is based on Ubuntu.
The ONLY universal interface among all those different Linux types and DE is the Terminal, command line. That's why when something needs to be fixed or solved, the solution is usually going through command lines. Average people wouldn't like that, and that could be the problem preventing Linux from being mainstream.
I do think people should try Linux OS like Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Zorin, In my opinion it is way better than Windows more logical. FYI apple Mac OSX is a distant relative of Linux.
General computers, Laptops from Lenovo, HP, Dell ...etc. works very closely with Linux community may be Lenovo been the closest. Unless it is new model otherwise usually already been compatible. Even new models should be fine within 6 months. Acer and Asus focused more on Windows, small things like cam or touch pad may take longer to be supported.
