- NJ: When I did an in-store pickup of an online-order, tax was automatically calculated on (price - TIV_promo - TIV_normal). But when I did an in-store purchasing today, tax was calculated on (price - TIV_promo). According to the representative, this is because TIV_normal is processes as a GC and it has to be applied after the checkout, so the tax is charged on that part. Don't know if this is all true to CA or other states.

- I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

So..I just traded in 2 iphone XRs for $420 each. You're telling me if I decided to return the Pixel 7s I'll receive a Best Buy gift for $840 and will be refunded the price of the Pixel 7s?
Hate to say it but that's way slicker than getting these phones.
Edit: Or is it that I'd receive $420 for each XR in BB gift cards, and the remainder of the Pixel 7 cost would have that deducted before refund (so roughly $260 only)? Anybody know?

I am wondering if you'll just keep the "trade value" refunded to your payment method since they would have already refunded you once device is traded in and when returning you may only receive the difference that's been charged? Or would they recharge you for the trade in value towards a gift card? I think the language on the site is based on older process and this is the first I'm seeing this type of trade in credit process on BestBuy unless it's not.
