Okay, I figured out how to find out which trade-in box corresponds to which order.

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".

You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

Best Buy trade-in process has not changed since iPhone 13 trade-in deal last summer, so all these following tips still apply to this Pixel trade-in. This is for in-store trade-in, I have not done mail in trades with Best Buy.

Yes and they gave me the $100 gift card after the transaction was complete
Did they also take in your trade in store already?

I walked into the store with my old Pixel 4 already factory reset, traded that in for the Pixel 7 Obsidian (pre-order) and when I asked about the gift card being emailed to me, she said I was going to get it when we were done with the transaction. Now I am just waiting for the new phone

Trying to figure out how this is going to work if I do in store pickup/trade in if I have to surrender my phone but I don't have the new one activated yet. Esim? Chat or call tmo with no phone? Go directly to the tmobile store and get a Sim? Not worried about the data, I change phones and factory reset enough that is routine. I guess I can suffer through an hour without a phone

Edit: in store seems very safe, trade in right there, wait a day or two for reviews, can always cancel or not pick up. $320 for my pixel 4a is more than I paid for it. Cash back sites are going to claw back points on the refund on the trade, you'll be lucky to get any, and then probably only on the amount you actually paid, same with cc companies, so that may be a surprise to some. Best I can manage was 9% total and that probably only applies to the $330 I actually paid. I actually opted for the 2 years extended warranty on the phone by using my Amex and only getting 1% back. Trading $12 in cc cash back for 2 years more warranty seemed like a good deal. Ymmv mtfbwy
My Chase Freedom card also extends the warranty an extra year and they are giving 5% back on Paypal now.

I have that card too, but how do you go about proving the PayPal payment was for the phone? Amex will be cut and dry and everything I have read about the process with them seems easy, Amex is known for its customer service, chase is not

So, if I ordered online to pickup in store and do a trade-in and have already given all the details, can I just go beforehand to do the trade-in and gc part of the transaction and come back to pick up the Pixel 7 or do I need to wait until the Pixel 7 is ready on the 13th/14th?

Pixel 7 obsidian doesn't have a problem with gc promo. The confusion is the reply to pixel 7 snow 128 post.

That's a good question and I have never needed to use the extra year before. However, a while back I asked AMEX the question about what if I pay through PayPal. They said I would. I also read on Reddit that benefits will apply when paying via PayPal.

One thing I expect, if you need the extra year, expect a much better customer service experience with AMEX over Chase. But that is always the case with AMEX.

If you look a few posts above you'll see someone traded in their old phone already in store and will return to pick up the new one.

So this is really anecdotal but important in view of the Pixel 6 problems:
" So from a Google rep that let me play with his phone after he was done setting up the displays in best buy this is what I've learned. It is the exact same as the pixel 6 pro. It got hot from him taking four photos and a short 20 second video. Service in store was none. Step outside one bar and the dreaded ! Signal. The other rep has a s22ultra and had full service 5g. The demo devices were also warm and crashed three times. They said this was the same at all five best buy's that they visited. They also were behind on setting up displays because of those errors stating they were already on their tenth hour of work at 5pm CST. I was hoping that my early information from a supplier was wrong but based on their own reps, I can see that they were dead on. The tensor chip is not a good processor and reminds me of the inferior exynos chips Samsung makes as they are riddled with the exact same issues.... Which makes sense given Samsung's foundry has quality issues."

Edited my post, completely agree on the customer service. Amex seems to be the only credit card company that even cares about that kind of thing any more. Capital one is the worst

Believe you'll get back what you paid minus the promotional trade in credit. Essentially you'd lose ~$300 I think.
They can't keep the old phone and the trade in credit.

They will even ship it to you for free if you don't feel like going back to the store (which is what I did). Supposed to get it delivered the same day it is released

Is this better than the deal through T-Mobile directly?

I guess what I'm asking is: had you already done this transaction online and were just bringing it up to the store? Or did you originate the entire transaction in store?

As long as you sync those photos to the original pixel and then upload to google photos from there, yep. For now...let's see if they close that loophole.
I'm enjoying that benefit but prepared for closing of loophole with a Synology Nas.
