- NJ: When I did an in-store pickup of an online-order, tax was automatically calculated on (price - TIV_promo - TIV_normal). But when I did an in-store purchasing today, tax was calculated on (price - TIV_promo). According to the representative, this is because TIV_normal is processes as a GC and it has to be applied after the checkout, so the tax is charged on that part. Don't know if this is all true to CA or other states.

- I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

I had just placed another order as it said "1 available" at your store as well because of this crap. My luck they'll cancel the original. :-x. Currently sitting in their parking lot.

EDIT: I have a P6 that needs to stay active on Fi for 2 more days or I have to pay $200. I'd like to pick up the P7 today, and not activate it until Monday. Then I'll have time to transfer the data over and then turn in the trade in on Tuesday. If not, I'll have to wait until Sunday to go pick up the P7.
You can probably grab the Pixel, go home and transfer data, and bring the trade-in back as long as you're within the 15-day valuation period.

I am 100% sure no one will pay me $490 for my iphone 11 64gb! Technically, my Pixel 7 upgrade only cost me $66 of tax!

Successfully traded in refurb iPhones from tracfone/tw with no issue.
Importantly they did give the tax back as well so I received $420+tax in refund per phone.
