According to the representative, this is because TIV_normal is processes as a GC and it has to be applied after the checkout, so the tax is charged on that part. - I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

Well at least two trade ins were smooth, got refund and gc the moment I walked out of worst buy.
P6: Bought for $520 total last year used, and got $480 from BB, loss of $40 after 1 year of use.
Traded in for the P7P for $969 total, and got the $200 BB GC.
It means I paid, $969 - $480 = $489
Extra Retail Cashback 4% + Chase Freedom PayPal 5% = $20 + $24 = $44
Therefore: $969 - $480 - $44 - $200 = $245 paid for the P7P.
Not too shabby. Now the wait for the P7P Hazel.

Either way, I am also thinking of returning the phone in store, get the refund. Then place the order for same store pickup with the correct tradein device and request them to give the same phone that I returned to them. Is this feasible ?
