This'll be my first time doing so, and I'll be sending in a 2 in 1 dell as well. Looks like they use the BIOS date.

Not sure how old your Trade-in device is or what processor it has? We have some handy tips to help you find this information below. Simply select your Trade-in device's operating system and follow the steps:
Windows Laptop
If your Trade-in unit is a Windows Laptop, follow these steps:
Press the Windows key on your keyboard
Start typing System
Select System Information.
Here you will see the BIOS date, which shows the age of your laptop, as well as the Processor.
If the Windows key is not available on your keyboard, simply right-click the Windows icon located on the bottom-left corner of your screen using your mouse and choose System

It's a little bit confusing, but the page you checked are for the current products that have the trade-in promotion. The laptop requirements that qualify for trade-in are more generalized. Please check the link below instead.

I stay away from any laptop with recognized hinge issues. I've bought two over the past few years that were used carefully, even left open on a desk for 95% of usage just to avoid potential hinge issues, yet all it took was one fateful open/close to break the weak hinge connections. On the other hand, I have a 6 year old Dell 5000 series 2 in 1 that hasnt been babied at all, and not a single issue, with no reports of wide spread hnge issues either. Take the warnings as real, or you might be the next person commenting on these threads about it.

FWIW...I bought overpriced accident/damage protection warranties from the manufacturers before my 1 year original warranty was up, and used that to fix the hinge and immediately sold them after and replaced with laptops that didn't have the issue. Manufacturers (particularly Dell and Lenovo, even bought through Costco) will NOT honor a warranty repair for hinge issues, always claiming it as accident damage and not a manufacturer defect.

I bought the flex with the 5700u 300nit screen from Costco just a month ago for 599 - Is this worth the trouble of the upgrade (I do have a spare chromebook I could return)

I received this laptop two days back. I am back testing it by installing all heavy ram and processor usage apps, so far good. Its getting really hot while charging. Speakers are not too loud. Overall everything looks good. Screen is very clear. Cant even notice screen door effect until I read other comments here. I guess my eyes are okay with it. I will carry on testing it. I think $300 trade in value for older laptop is really a great deal. Plus we have 90 days return policy and 1 year Lenovo warranty.

I can see only few desktop/laptops qualify for trade in. Please see the link

https://costcotradein.com/tradein...qualifying [costcotradein.com]
Just for avoidance of doubt, that list of desktops and laptops that qualify is the list of new computers purchased during this promotional period that qualify for a trade-in. They will accept any laptop less than 7 years old (based on the serial number) that meets the criteria as eligible for the $300 shop card.

This deal will pay for your Costco membership in my opinion.

Very good laptop. Not a good deal though. Costco had better config with 512gb SSD for the same price in the past.

I received this today and yes the effect is noticeable. I didn't think it would be, but it is. It is not really visible on images, but anything with a white background or light colors, you can see a slight screen door. Just enough to catch your attention. Great config but that effect is really distracting and I will probably return it.

Received today. Gets really hot even under moderate load - not sure who is to blame here, Lenovo or Intel but it is basically unusable. Screen door effect is noticeable, but I can work around it by using a dark background.

More so, the build quality is really cheap for what is arguably an $800+ laptop. This is going back to Costco unfortunately.

There are several capable similarly priced Windows laptops (assuming that's what you are interested in) - for instance, the highly rated HP Spectre series and Dell Inspiron 5/7620s are pretty good too.

Just saying ...

I bought it and it came in yesterday.
The unit looks very decent, and I finished installing all the software and updated Windows 11.
I also used SypderX Pro to calibrate the monitor --- I am TRULY AMAZED. The screen definitely is wide gamut and it has almost the same coverage as Adobe RGB. It's also very bright, definitely more than 300nits.
Thanks to the thunderbolt port, it can share the same docking station as my Thinkpad P1 Gen4.
The hinge doesn't seem to be as strong as my P1 Gen4, but I am not concerned.
It looks the heat management is good as well. I ran did some video conversion and all CPU temperature stayed at <60C and the overall unit stayed relatively cool as well.
With the trade-in offer, the total cost will be down to $500, it's absolutely a steal especially given the super nice screen out of the series' league.
