For the more power users: If these are like last gens versions, they may work well but they have a super limited admin interface. It's only accessible from your phone and the Google home app. You can still port forward, and the basics but its a little lightweight. Just make sure you do your research and check into that before a purchase!

Let's play a game, everyone. Who can guess, without searching SD, what product this guy is talking about?

Lol Mystery Man I like that but I am in just about any router or networking thread for the last 10 years laugh out loud , so you can say I been around here.

The reason I didnt give examples is cause there are many and it depends if you want over 1Gbps speeds in the future or are happy with Sub 1Gbps speeds, also matters how much you want to spend, and if you want the ability to fully customize your network or want a hands off approach.

Quick examples of mesh systems with wifi 6 with well over 1Gbps speeds delivered over wireless are the TP-Link AX5700 and Deco X90 X4300 Pro, Asus ZenWifi Pro XT12, Synology RT6600ax.

Quick examples and there are MANY MANY of these so just naming the first few of the top of my head that will offer you sub 1 Gbps speeds: Asus Zen XD6, Netgear Orbi RBR850, TP-Link Deco AXE5400.

Then there are also the stand alone routers which can do above 1Gbps cause sometimes people living in 2500sq ft and under houses think they need mesh when in reality all they really need is one REALLY good router.
Thanks for the 1G+ recommendations. I prefer to purchase my routers from Costco on case they die out early. They have the TP-Link AX5700 but it doesn't appear to be 6e & has fiarly poor reviews. They have a couple Deco models including 'TP-Link Deco AXE5300', & 'TP-Link Deco X60 Wi-Fi 6 AX3000' (doesn't seem to be 6e) but not the Deco X90 X4300 Pro.
Thanks in advance for any input!

sounds like a user error. never once had an issue with any of my unifi gear and it is rock solid with no downtime months on end. go troll elsewhere
I've had a pretty extensive unifi setup for years; the fact that I have the APs installed everywhere is the only thing that's stopping me from switching away and never looking back.

It's generally stable; until it isn't. The setup, configuration, and troubleshooting is incredibly unintuitive - so if you aren't working with it regularly; and then something goes wrong - you are plunged into a big pile of wtf.

I've spent most of my life working in tech; including networking. But after my last unifi issue - I'm keeping my eyes out for a (simple) replacement.

The issue was: one of the APs lost the ability to broadcast. Everything seemed 100% fine. It would survey, etc.
I'm assuming hardware failure. The issue isn't the issue; it's how much of a pita the unifi system is to work with if you aren't familiar with it.

You could read this all the other way: it's been stable and is a powerful platform. But I would never generically recommend unifi.

I have a nest Wi-Fi or the 2nd gen and just feel like the Wi-Fi isn't great. I get 50-200mbps. I'll wait to see some reviews first

I might invest in this. I have the model before this and I love it. I have 2 routers and a point. I have it hooked to google fiber internet and when I do a speed test it says blazing fast. I get 1 gig upload and 1 gig download. Internet service is $70 a month.

Still running my 2x asus OnHub. Want to upgrade but never see a mesh system with more than 1 eth port. Wish they would make a main hub with 4 ports

I genuinely don't understand the value of these routers compared to their (previous generation compatible mesh).

Yes. WiFi 6+ promises a lot, especially in terms of congestion... Except most devices congesting the network won't be alleviated. IoT devices running on 2.4GHz bands of pre-WiFi_6.

And for people with the money for these are probably on ZigBee or alternatives that aren't congesting the routers anyways.

Unless... This has something to do with MATTER, I'm honestly not familiar at all with that.

note: sorry for the ramble, I just don't get it and hope someone will educate me
I don't think there is value to most people. You're definitely not the target market.

I know the people who are in that market. They are the ones that want very little fuss with setup and want mainly plug and play. No thinking required.

They are not looking to optimize their network nor their IoT devices.

They want what reviews will tell them that it just works. Quality is assumed because of brand name.

But... The previous generations did just that. Extremely reliable, just plug and done. Maybe I'm just stupid

I have the NEST WIFI now with a "900 Mbps DL plan".
I get at most 500-550 Mbps DL on my iPhone 14 PRO MAX and MBA M1 on 5ghz.
Will this NEST WIFI PRO increase the DL speed since it's 6e(and 6 also)?
Yes, it should if you are close enough to the router to get a good 6Ghz signal (on the iPhone, the MBA doesn't support 6Ghz Wifi).

The main problem with these is that they only have a 1gbps connection between it and the WLAN/Modem, but if your plan is 900mbps you should be fine.

It's along the same line for when a sales person tries to upsell more than what the consumer need. It's not whether the customer has use for it, just the idea of new is better.

TP-Link APs are cheap and out perform the Unifi, extremely easy to work with even if your not using their cloudkey to manage. The TP-Link AP's also been high rated and won a few awards for being best in class by a few professional websites. The new Wifi 6 AP's look to be just as good of a value as the older Wifi 5s.

AX5700 had some poor reviews cause of an issue between the two router units losing connection to each other, the only solution for most people was to swap the whole kit, but outside of that they been rock solid. Only other issue that a lot of people are bombing TP-Link for is that if you dont have internet your LAN also goes down, something TP-Link says they are working on addressing but not sure what if anything has been done. This cavet is in their full line of DECO products but most people never notice cause most people only use WAN part of their network.

Most Asus mesh have 4 ports also some of the higher end Netgear Orbis also have 4 ports so thats what you want to keep an eye out for.

I just got 1gb fiber in the new home and I'm still scratching my head why I can't get over 200mbps over wifi. I'm using ubiquiti usg with a u6 mesh setup.
