Excellent fan, but this seems to be the newer model where they removed the ability to connect with extension cord the old model had if that matters to you

Yep. Depending on your needs, this model may or may not have some trade offs. This one is rated for 650cfm but has no outlet to plug in 120vac power. The DCE511B has the outlet, but is also only rated for 500cfm.

I have a 511 and just purchased this 512. For my needs, it'll be fine.

If someone is interested in a larger fan, consider the Hart Hybrid 12" one.

Its only $49 (w/o battery) here [walmart.com].

Its a different battery system, but it also allows for 120v plug in. it moves over twice the air volume as this DeWalt. Unless you specifically want an 8" fan, the Hart is a better value. Mine is mounted on the wall above my workout rack most of the time, but I can easily pull it down and take it with me.

I have mostly DeWalt tools but just couldn't see the value in the DeWalt fan.

The Hart brand has worked well for me with my non-traditional battery tools...fan, inflator, shop vac...

Do you have this dewalt fan too? Curious how the fans compare. We have one of the dewalt fans now and love it but looking to buy 2 more for both of my sons baseball teams dugouts during summer. Thinking the misting one may be the way to go, if the fans are about the same strength.

I've had the older style with 110v power option and have yet to use that. The thing that makes it great to me is the cordless ability. I've got a handful of cheap plug in fans if I want to trip over cords. If you're going to plug in, may as well save a lot of money and buy a 20 dollar fan.

That misting fan looks pretty coo! Wish dewalt made that.
