I have no reason to disbelieve you but without sources, it is hard to believe the extent of what you are saying. Or judge whether you are spreading FUD intentionally or otherwise.
The models you listed earlier have very different NAND chips MLC and TLC, so it is unlikely a NAND production error. They also have multiple controllers, so it is unlikely to be controller error.
Google search only brings up some forum posts and long deleted Reddit posts of anecdotal experiences that can exist for any SSD.
But you suggest several articles and have so far refused to back it up with sources.
Again, I am not saying you are necessarily wrong but credibility is not high for the claims or you could be mistaken in what you read or may have generalized or extrapolated too much.
Until there is some credible sources to check, your posts should be taken as an unsubstantiated rumor. This is the worst use of a user forum.
However, I am not sure how one refurbishes a device like this outside of blowing off dust.

their warranty is awesome, send it back to them and they sent back new ones twice now over the course of 5 years since I use only samsung SSDs

Its a known issue and its gonna get worse. Give it more time, more articles will be written about this specific issue to those who actually know how this works in detail and will break it down hopefully.
TECHNICALLY, Samsung does NOT warranty "open box/refurb" items so make SURE you do not send in your receipt if warranty is needed which also means that you want to make sure manufactured date is relatively recent since that is what they go by for warranty.
But I think Crystal Disk is either reading wrong info about the read/writes, or some of that data is present 'when new'. Because my drive certainly looked and behaved as new.

Gen 4 is faster than 3, but they're all backwards compatible, and it's very unlikely you'd even notice the difference between 3/4/5.

All those are anecdotal posts by a few people with very few followups. Some unverified reports from China. Please don't refer to forum posts as articles if you are serious about informing people.
I am not defending Samsung here. I haven't actually recommended any Samsung drives because I always find good, cheaper alternatives but I am really sensitive to misinformation created on the Internet.
I am now beginning to wonder if the reports of Crucial MX500 firmware issue is also a similar campaign. Hmmm..
First of all, a normal failure rate would have such a small sample of anecdotal data. Second, if there was more than such rates, any of these threads would have follow ups from an increasing number of people and it would be picked up by blogs and articles. These reports have been around for months to a year. There would be noticeable reviews on retail sites noting failures. For now, all of these stories could have been planted by just a couple of people.
Inclusion of so many different NAND products and controllers as alleged seems very fishy to me.
I might be totally wrong but I am calling this fake news. Until, there are some credible reports…
The one I got has under 1gb of use and less than one day.
It looked like they just tested it and repackaged it in its original box (SN is on the box).
people return these for many reasons besides them being bad. maybe they meant to get the Pro or the Gen 4 and just returned it for an exchange.
it's easy to see how much the drive is used with crystal disk info (free download) and Samsung Magician tell you all you need to know. If it has a lot of use return it.
BTW - I have a new 2TB SKH P-31 (my 2nd SKH drive) in this XPS I"m typing on now, which just had its Samsung SSD kicked to the curb. The only time the fan comes on is when some MS program (Edge?) spins out of control and starts eating the cpu. Otherwise, it's cool, quiet, and so far I think I made the right decision.
Other - Edge is pretty much excrement IMO. I use it for a work app, but it's heavy on the spyware IMO.
