So no one gets confused by the naming structure... this model is limited to 1080p - it is not capable of 4K output.

It's an A8. 4k model is A12.

Latest Apple chip is A16 so the one in this ATV HD model is 8 years old.

The point again was this was not only 1080p which isn't that terrible imo but the chip is too old to even provide a great 1080p experience. I have the ATV from about 8 years ago on one of my plasma tvs (same A8) and it is kind of slow. So even if I just wanted a 1080p experience I would buy the 4k model.

Granted I would wait until a sale at this point as rumors of a new model have been flying and retailers were dumping the 4k for $110-$120 during the late summer. ...

FYI. New metal remote does not have gyro in it like the old basic one so some games won't work. Ie Dance Games etc. why seems crazy silly they removed that feature from the newest remote.

Love the 4K one. I'd easily buy another for a 1080p TV. I wouldn't buy this though as of course, one day you have dreams to upgrade your TV and this would then become...obsolete
