Could have uses. Kids room when you have a metered internet and 4K does nothing on cheaper TVs but chew up data. Now my oLEDs I want the best.
Probably just get a fire stick and drop the resolution.

Apple website indicates that this is actually HD and not 4K. Very confusing. I thought only 4K boxes had the new remote.

If it's the latest model as shown in the post, why are people saying it's not and only does 1080p?

It actually is an old model Apple TV that they bundled with the new remote. I looked up the model number on Apple's website.

There are 2 models of Apple TV; a regular HD 1080p model and a 4K model. This posting is just for the 4K model. For those that have a 4K TV, you will want to but the 4K model, not this 1080p model. However, both the latest 1080p and 4K models both come with the new silver remote.

So this is full featured. But limited to 1080p. Why are you guys so hung up with 4k? Im willing to bet that side by side. You would be hard processed to tell the difference for most media.

So, it is the latest 4K model with the updated remote?

No. It says right in the product description that it only does 1080p. It does have the newer remote though, which is nice.

So no one gets confused by the naming structure... this model is limited to 1080p - it is not capable of 4K output.
Just picked up the 64gb 4K Gen 2 for $96 on Amazon from their warehouse deals

Well, if it's an old model, that should be clear in the description. I'm sure this model is fine, but if only 1080p, it's still too much. My guess is more people have a 4K TV these days. Not everyone does, of course.

No, this is the latest HD 1080p model with the newest remote; the picture will not show in 4K.
