Has Mint done anything to improve security and avoid SIM swapping? I was happy with their service and pricing, but the lax security drove me away.
I use an Authenticator app to login to my Mint account, but there's nothing more you can do to prevent a Mint employee from being the weakest link.

I don't use the mobile numbers for these data sims, when I keep switching from one mvno to another. My point was that the number of calls from car warranty department, irs, fbi, social security administration etc on mint numbers is high
I think you missed the point a bit..

Dunno. I have Nomorobo on my phone, and for the $20/yr, it's well worth it.

Been using Mint for a couple of years now. Great service never had any access/connection problems. They have a special offer like this a few times a year. I accidentally streamed my security camera thinking I was on Wi-Fi ate through my data plan within first few days for the month. So they allowed me through the app to upgrade my plan to unlimited at a cheaper rate giving me credit for the full price although it was a discounted plan. I use google hangouts or whatever it's called now. I get a new number from Mint every X months and just tell google to ring that number.
I learned to keep my cellular off until I leave the house, and then I only have certain apps allowed to use cellular. No oops/high data months for me.

All I'm here to say is that I had the service for many years and if it works for me then it'll work for you. I am a bicycle messenger in San Francisco California so I'm always depending on data.

I bought a six month plan for $76 two days into my first month I discovered I had used the whole month. So if I normally use 10 then I was on the hook for $100 to make it through the month. But for a one time cost of $60 more I was able to get six months of unlimited. Which came out to $22 a month.

If you don't mind getting a phone, this BB deal is the same price (for example 15GB) on directly through Mint website

But you can lock in the price for 1-year instead of 6-months.

Example:
https://www.mintmobile.com/produc...6a-bundle/

15GB, 1-yr = $150 yearly (12.50 per month)
Plus a discounted Pixel 6a $299
+++ PLUS +++
If you can STACK in your AMEX credit $45 off $90.

Potentially making your MINT yearly = ~8.75 per month!

you have the option of new # or port at activation time
Quote from WhyAlwaysMe_ :
"Limited time offer, for new customers only. " so you can't transfer your number from another carrier to mint to use this promo, right?
they say 50 days to port back in, but the language on new customers is new - so if you're paranoid make sure you to check the #, MEID and email you use to register
Quote from cybergold :
Ported out last month. If I register using a new email address can I still get my number ported back (as new customer)?
Quote from seawolf :
Does "Not available for customers with a Mint plan within last 90 days of activation or trial customers" mean it is by line or by account? If I wanted to buy two of these for two lines will both lines get 6 months of service or just one line? Thanks.
Quote from RunningOnEmpty :
Can you just start up a plan on another phone? How do they check?
1/6 means it'll be a sale til... or supplies run out.
Quote from FederlineYo :
Any idea how long this sale/deal will go on for? "Limited Time Offer" but available til 1/6/2023

Soooo one can buy this off BestBuy.com say on Oct 30th?
if it was through BestBuy it should have the 3mos. if you activated yesterday (within the promo period)
Quote from trythedeal :
I bought SIM card last month and activated yesterday. Can I ask them to add 3 more months by showing this?

Do they consider activation date or purchase date?
just used the Amex to extend a current # for 5mos @ $20/mo - they give 1mo credit on renewal so $100-45 = $55 (plus fees)
Quote from phatparents :
That is what i was thinking... purchase the 4 gb a month "buy three months, get three months free" deal. Set up new Mint account. Then use my Amex card to add $90 to my new account wallet and get a $45 credit back from Amex. Then use my wife's Amex card to add an additional $90 to my new account wallet and get another $45 back from Amex. Will have a total of $180 in wallet and only paid $90.

Doing the math.... $45 for the first six months. Then use the $180 in the wallet (which only cost me $90) to pay for another year. So it would only cost $135 for a year and a half of service.

Only downside.... will have to get a new phone number. But since I also have a google voice number, I don't really care too much about that....

Is that the best way to max out this promotion?
more fees on Mint (Amex), but you can use it to extend an existing plan...

Yeah I was wondering the same thing and if not which offer is better

Is this a best buy exclusive promo or any 3month mint sim bought from anywhere qualifies as long as activation is between those dates?

This is the line I want clarification on:

"Not available for customers with a Mint plan within last 90 days of activation or trial customers."

I jumped off AT&T 3 weeks ago after fulfilling my 24 month bill credit obligation. (🙄) I bought a buy 3 get 3 from BB a month or so ago. Says renewal is March 22. Clearly I wanna utilize the sale price. Since it says within 90 days, I can wait to activate it on, say, Jan 1st and be outside of my 90 day period and still keep my number?

I'm about to get a Google voice number and keep forwarding the mint to it. Seems like it works well for others. TIA.

I have had spam issues from recycled numbers as well, but after some trial-and-error, I stopped choosing my home zip code for number selection. Now, I pick a zip code in a less-populated area often in a different state, and I get zero spam calls. I never use my number to subscribe to texts like the zoomers, so I'm also helping the next person who gets my old number.

No where does it state for me, "buy 3 months get 3 months free." What am I missing?

Could that be the reasons why installing within a day of MINT SIM, almost on daily basis I receive spam text and phone calls? I called them to give me a new number, they said to install a 3rd party app.
