If the Ikea batteries are still made in Japan as they always have been, then they are superior, no contest. I only buy Japanese rechargeables. My Eneloop and Eneloop Pros are still going strong after over 5 years of use, with no failures...and they last far longer than disposables in high drain devices, I'm never without batteries, and they keep a respectable charge even after sitting long periods which cheap rechargeables nearly never do. They've been a fantastic investment.

A low price doesn't necessarily equate to a good value, just as a high price doesn't mean a bad one.

They are not the old Eneloop rebadged ones. These are the china stuff that will die in 1-3 years.

these are crap. i bought a bunch of them. they discharge fast. barely can use for a mouse for a week.

There is just so much bad information in this thread. First of all, these batteries are among the best performing AAA's you can buy. I believe Project Farm reviewed them highly, and I KNOW (see below) that NYT Wirecutter reviewed them. Somebody commented that the discharge rate is horrible - yet, tested, they are 2x better than Eneloop! They placed #2 behind the Made in Japan Duracells and ahead of the Made in Japan Energizers and Eneloops (I own all three Energizer, Eneloop and Amazon Basics AAA, btw).

Also, I just checked on of my personal Amazon Basics AAA batteries that I purchased less than a year ago -- it shows MADE IN MALAYSIA. So, no, they are not Made in China.

Finally, the person that said he bought them and half of them leaked... okay, there are over 151k reviews on Amazon with a 4.6 rating, and there are a BUNCH of third parties that have all tested these highly, AND I personally own them, and none of that has been true for me. The batteries that guy bought sound like counterfeits to me. So, believe who you want in this thread, but I can personally recommend these. In fact, I just ordered another 12 pack.

That WOULD be a great deal, for sure, but it looks dead to me. I'm seeing $17.82 with Sub and Save (which is actually still a good deal for Amazon Basics AAA).

FYI: if you don't need 12 batteries, the 8-pack is about the same price per battery ($0.86 vs $0.79 each, so $6.85 for the 8-pack).

These are junk. The moderator comment is totally wrong and biased. The review sites are owned by amazon in part - wirecutter cannot be trusted at all. I have had these batteries and they do not last charge

I bought a 12-pack of the Amazon Basics AAA in July 2020 for $13.50 and they were all fine (mainly used in headlamps, remotes, etc.), so I don't need more. But, these were the white ones made in China, and not these green ones.

EDIT: I can see on my older battery that the recommended charge rate is 80 mA for 15 hours, so I can imagine that those who may have problems with losing charge capacity after several charges may have used a quick charger which may degrade the battery sooner than using a slower charge rate. (I've been using Eneloop and Sanyo chargers which charge AAA batteries at 150 mA).

The ones I bought recently were made in Malaysia, not China. The ones I tested averaged around 850mAh, though they are only rated for 800mAh.

While not all of them, a bunch of reviews complaining about them leaking when charged were people trying to recharge Amazon's alkaline batteries. You can even see in their pictures where it says not to recharge those batteries.

I have found this to be the case as well. Higher capacity batteries (including Eneloop XX/Pro) tend to have higher self-discharge and don't hold up nearly as well in the long term. I have never found a 2500mAh+ AA that has held up well (Eneloop included). AAs that are 2100mAh or less tend to hold up much better, though still not guaranteed. I now actively avoid high capacity batteries.
