There is just so much bad information in this thread. First of all, these batteries are among the best performing AAA's you can buy. I believe Project Farm reviewed them highly, and I KNOW (see below) that NYT Wirecutter reviewed them. Somebody commented that the discharge rate is horrible - yet, tested, they are 2x better than Eneloop! They placed #2 behind the Made in Japan Duracells and ahead of the Made in Japan Energizers and Eneloops (I own all three Energizer, Eneloop and Amazon Basics AAA, btw).

Also, I just checked on of my personal Amazon Basics AAA batteries that I purchased less than a year ago -- it shows MADE IN MALAYSIA. So, no, they are not Made in China.

Finally, the person that said he bought them and half of them leaked... okay, there are over 151k reviews on Amazon with a 4.6 rating, and there are a BUNCH of third parties that have all tested these highly, AND I personally own them, and none of that has been true for me. The batteries that guy bought sound like counterfeits to me. So, believe who you want in this thread, but I can personally recommend these. In fact, I just ordered another 12 pack.

Bro, your picture of YOUR batteries shows "ALKALINE" printed right on it! The ones in your pic are white on the outside as well, and not green like the OP rechargeables. Yes, Alkalines leak. This deal is NOT for Amazon Basics Alkalines… it's for their highly rated Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries. So, thanks for the picture that clears up that your comment is NOT relevant to this deal.

If the Ikea batteries are still made in Japan as they always have been, then they are superior, no contest. I only buy Japanese rechargeables. My Eneloop and Eneloop Pros are still going strong after over 5 years of use, with no failures...and they last far longer than disposables in high drain devices, I'm never without batteries, and they keep a respectable charge even after sitting long periods which cheap rechargeables nearly never do. They've been a fantastic investment.

A low price doesn't necessarily equate to a good value, just as a high price doesn't mean a bad one.

I did some napkin maths on these rechargeable batteries and I concluded that even if they lived half as long as of their fancy Japanese counterparts they cost roughly half the cost. So you are ok to buy them save the time it takes to reorder every 2-3 years and their environmental impact of tossing a dozen AAA in the battery recycling bin.

Based on my experience, the capacity degrades much faster than other batteries (highly doubt they are even 800mAh to begin with). Who knows, maybe I received counterfeit Amazonbasics

I doubt they would be able to taint the inventory especially since only Amazon can sell these on their website, no third party sellers

Never thought I'd be posting on the internet defending batteries, but here i am.

I have probably 30+ AAs and AAAs from amazon and enloop.

honest to god could not tell you the difference in discharge time or longevity. ive had them all for several years at this point.

and i have never had one leak ever.

so i say get whatever is cheaper because to me they do the same work.

I bought these a few years ago. I used them in my son's Thomas the train set. Sold the whole set for $10 at a rummage sale. Forgot to remove my batteries.... I guess I'm buying these again.

Probably improper storage or charging. I've had (and still have) countless brands of AA and AAA NiMH batteries from as far back as 2008. I had a lot that just couldn't hold a charge and a few that seemed to have leaked. I just used the "free" chargers that came with the batteries up until 2014, when I got a charger that could charge at slower rates and do a "refresh" cycle. Haven't had any batteries leak since then and was even able to get some "dead" batteries to be usable again. I'm still using a ton of batteries that I bought back in 2012-2014. The pre-2012 ones still work, but because they are damaged from not keeping charged and getting hot while charging, they aren't used in anything other than my small flashlights.

NiHM is an investment and a good charger is part of that. Can't invest $20-$40 for a charger to keep your NiMH lasting for YEARS? Then just stick to alkaline or Lithium and save yourself some money.

Amazon Basics rechargeable batteries are the only brand that I've had actually die on me (i.e they will no longer charge at all). I have EBL and Ikea batteries that don't last very long, but at least they still work. None of them have performed as well as the Eneloops I have.
