Existing reservation: $303 incl taxes
New reservation: $403 incl taxes after promo, less 20% cash back (not including tax amount) ~$340 net.

Is 20% back on the base rate or total including taxes and fees? Seems LAX is close to $150 more on top, could be difference of $50.

Budget has the same promo. Strange that on the check out page, Avis does not mention anything about the 20% off.

But, on Budget's check out page, there is a banner that says you will get XX amount on a gift card upon completing your rental

I had a reservation for Thanksgiving week with Budget. The additional 20% off these prices was 10% lower than my original reservation.

I tried this last time around and never got the gift card. Amazon nor Avis were helpful so I just stopped doing it. As someone posted above, it might require prepayment, or using your account might void it. I booked through their portal and everything.
