Not sure if anyone pointed this out, but I just got the 7 pro with $800 trade in at T-Mobile with a pixel 4. I bought the 4 for $152 including tax on one of the sites. Had to pay full tax at T-Mobile. I know it is bill credit but I am not leaving t-mobile. Need a Max plan.

I bet that's what happened with the 13 Pro Max. Seeing as the regular Pro is still 6 something, I imagine the Pro Max went up after the GC/store credit went away

it's all depends on specific details. BestBuy you trade in store and there's no surpirses later or lost phone or whatever. You also gain $20 in taxes since they are doing $250 coupon off the price on the phone plus their regular trade value. In my case I had an S22 plus with regular trade value of 420 plus the 250 coupon plus taxes saving of $20 plust $200 gc = 890 in total. Google would now only give me $600 no gif card. So Google is worse by $290 .
In your case Google gives you S900 way more for Ultra. It's an extra $300 vs the plus.. But you would still be better of with Bestbuy. BB would have given you 725 + 200. In addition with BB if you do this in the store instead of online they do 475 trade in plus 250 off the price of P7P. So you save an extra $20 in taxes. With BB it's an extra $45 for you.

Trying to decide if I want to send in my ultra now that they've increased the trade in. Guess worst case scenario I could sell the 7p around the time of the 23 ultras release if if I'm not happy (same thing I had to do with issues to the 6pro). Just have to assume trading the 22 for the 23 wouldn't get more than about 700 like they did when the 22 launched.

S-20 5g+, 128GB was $430 trade-in. That's the best I've seen anywhere. Best Buy wouldn't even take it. I like this deal over the gift card.
