Looks like Google is more focusing on getting users of other phones into their eco system and are not really looking at their own P6 or P6 pro users to upgrade to P7. Either this or they are tacitly accepting that their phone is not on par with other flagships looking at the current trade-in values for pixel phones on the site.
For eg: for a 256gb P6 Pro, the site shows $540 trade-in value, which is undervalued in my opinion, especially when they are giving $700+ value to equivalent flag ships from other brands

BTW, even at a $900 value, why would an iPhone 13 Pro Max user want to move over to P7 Pro?
iPhone XR, 11, or the 12 users are more likely to move over to the Pixel 7 than 13 Pro Max.

It would be hugely remiss for them to bait and switch and give store credit since it says ON THE BOTTOM of the trade in invoice email that your trade-in credit method is your credit card ending in #1234 or whatever.

No condition where "if your trade in is worth big bucks, sorry, you lose!"

Faq only states credit in case where you return phone that trade-in was initiated for.

I can also paste the chat log confirming otherwise if anyone wants. I really want to get my credits out of google store purgatory and I don't need 10 pixel phones lol.
Just got off a chat with them. They said the difference would be given in the form of Google Store credit

Or, if you are V customer and 5G plan holder, trade your older phone for $700 toward 7 or 7 pro.
Did it with Pixel 2 XL two days ago.
Will make 7 pro 128GB $5/mo per line and 7Pro 256GB $8/mo per line on top of regular bill for 36 months. Open your account and see if it will work for you, and then call Verizon and talk to rep to activate that deal. Or do it online.
So I have an old Pixel XL that I would like to trade in. Does anyone know if I can trade in the old phone and activate it on a new line? Also, the instruction say to:

How it works
-Buy a Verizon Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro.
-Device line must be on a 5G Unlimited data plan. Qualifying Unlimited Plans include Play, Do and Get More Unlimited.
-After you complete your new device order, visit verizon.com/tradein to start your trade with Verizon within 30-days of your purchase date. Instructions will be provided in Order Confirmation email.
-Bill credits will be applied to your Verizon account monthly within 1-2 billing cycles after Verizon receives and accepts your trade-in device.

When I go to verizon.com/tradein, my device trade in value is $0. Anyone else having this issue?

Because they want something different.

I'm trading in a Pixel 3 128gb and accidentally marked a Pixel 3 64gb. I don't care about the trade-in difference ($3) but just wondering if someone has done something like this and how it turned out if you just send it in instead of returning the pixel and reordering with the correct spec'd trade-in. Anyone? Support was no help.

I just cancelled my order with google (est $168) and went with Best Buy! With the taxes calculated with the trade-in for my iPhone 11 is $109. Plus you get a $100 e-gift card promotion. Basically like $10!

I was tempted to pull the trigger on the 7 pro but Im reading on reddit and some other review sites (not the major ones that get free promo phones) that there is still overheating issues with the 7 and the Tensor 2 chip didnt fix the issues from the 6. For example, someone said they just got the pixel 7 pro and transferred data from their old phone and it got super hot. Thinking I may wait until real reviews and real consumers start getting them in their hands and providing feedback. Anyone actually have a 7 yet?

it's all depends on specific details. BestBuy you trade in store and there's no surpirses later or lost phone or whatever. You also gain $20 in taxes since they are doing $250 coupon off the price on the phone plus their regular trade value. In my case I had an S22 plus with regular trade value of 420 plus the 250 coupon plus taxes saving of $20 plust $200 gc = 890 in total. Google would now only give me $600 no gif card. So Google is worse by $290 .
In your case Google gives you S900 way more for Ultra. It's an extra $300 vs the plus.. But you would still be better of with Bestbuy. BB would have given you 725 + 200. In addition with BB if you do this in the store instead of online they do 475 trade in plus 250 off the price of P7P. So you save an extra $20 in taxes. With BB it's an extra $45 for you.
I couldn't do the Best Buy trade in for my S22 U because I wanted the regular Pixel 7 (not Pro) and the trade in value was too high so the system couldn't even proceed. I ended up trading the S22 U to Google for the excess credit and then traded in an old iPhone XR to Best Buy since they offer the additional $100 gift card. The total of both actually ends up giving me credit back and two Pixel 7s.

Imagine trading iphone 13 pro max or S22 ultra for a phone that lose half the value by Christmas
Imagine buying a phone for the value it might hold rather than how much you like to use it or what it does for you. The S22 Ultra is the largest phone with the best hardware, screen, stylus, etc that I've ever had - but it's also the least useful and least enjoyable phone I've ever had. I actually prefer the Flip 3 or Flip 4 over it, and any of my past Pixels over any of them.

I also just saw on reddit (pixel sub) about reported issues of scrolling issues. Like jankiness and abrupt stopping while scrolling. Also heat issues as you described.

I was looking at this deal and thought about it (never had a pixel b4) but always considered them. Looks like this one will be plagued with issues at launch as well. Has any Pixel ever launched cleanly w/o issue?

I'll also wait for more extended reviews and an inevitable price drop as is customary w/ the Pixel lineup.

My wife got her lemongrass Pixel 7 yesterday and I was able to play with it a bit. Man it's a nice phone, makes my iPhone 14 pro look crazy overpriced.

Before anyone says to switch, I'm locked into the Apple ecosystem with my job. I was issued Apple everything and the iphone/apple watch is the only thing I have to pay for out of pocket, everything is given to me and required so I'm not changing.
Reason is Google sells a lot of ads. With FB pounding sand after iOS privacy saga, G doesn't want to end up there. So it's more like incentive people to switch platforms and then money make off you from selling ads.

Yeah, i have a S10+ work phone and use it as my main phone. My work is now only upgrading to apple products and I dont really want to switch. I love photography and have a A6600 but takes a lot of post processing to get what they do with computational photography and the Pixel 7 Pro seems to be the bees knees at the moment in regards to that. Wouldnt replace my A6600 but I think the photos would be a step up from the S10+. Getting a 7 would be my first foray into Google phones. But think Im going to wait a bit longer and see what people are saying 1-2 months from now. If its good, maybe a good black friday sale.
